I feel where you're coming from. There was a time when general CHUG figures were of damn good quality - now it's seems like Hasbro's trying to see how much collectors will let slide before they think we'd drop them entirely.

If the current line were to ever end - I'd go full into Cross Dimensions. I'd rather have cool looking figures than animation accuracy(the animation barely stayed accurate to itself:p ).

I hope they don't. The best part of this line is no remolds or repaints other than black so far.

Are you sure you're thinking of Unite Warriors Computron, and not Combiner Wars Computron? Because CW Computron was the lazy, thrown-together-at-the-last-minute version, not Takara's.
They would be too small to transform for a tape-bot!!! Just accept things have to be done a certain way by an official company to actually get it to work.

Nooooo... No no no. Shockwave deserves his own mold. (Goodness, how have we not gotten a decent CHUG Voyager Shockwave?)
Hasbro lost me when they started charging $20 for cheap Deluxes. Yeah, 3P figures are expensive, but at least I know I'm getting a high quality product.

Ummmm...universe 2.0 ravage (with hound) fits inside voyager sized G1 vintage soundwave (so do MP cassettes) So getting a cassette inside a voyager Soundwave is totally possible. The whole "leader" thing is just for playability. I get that, but now its time to make a soundwave/blaster for CHUG collectors instead of one for little kids.

Do you even know how much larger than older Cassettebots the Titans Return Cassettebots are?

I mean, the treads aren't exactly the same, but... you know, I probably shouldn't finish this sentence.

    Takara Hasbro
IMHO both look like crap and don't give me the feel of an updated
    [IMG]
the biggest offender and throw off is lightspeed and i can't over look it, yes one bot can be that devestating
    [IMG]
maketoys and warbatron at least got all the modes right and envoke a sense of modern look while envoking the original and my opinion is 1. Maketoys(i wish it was bigger that bow is badazz), 2. Warbatron(2nd only bcuz of the combiner weapon being inferior but it's the right size), 3. Takara UW Computron (if you add the 3rd party add ons it does atleast look decent and scales well with the overall size they were going for), 4. G1 Computron, 5. CW Comp (this thing is crap don't @ me bro  )

Ooh if they are following takara's footsteps then I sure as heck could go for a nice Octane. A CD version of him would be amazing.

Heck even a CD Hotrod would be kick ass. Dark maroon and shiny metallic gold would look amazing. Give him a dedicated torso mode and redo Protector with modernized articulation! Would pave the way nicely for a CityComm 2.0 at long last which I long suspected Striker's mold would be used for eventually anyway.

I own them all. And the TR cassetebots are all horrible. (Except Rewind who is awesome) Bigger doesnt mean better. Some of the best looking cassettebots wre the Perfect Effect representations which were tiny. They also did a hell of a job on reflector who was tiny.

That rather ignores the point. Whether they could have or should have been done at a different scale/been better toys is irrelevant.

HasTak chose to design them at the size they are for a gimmick, and therefore Soundwave and Blaster were scaled to follow suit.

    welcome to the club

i'm picking up what you're putting down and i like it, though your wording of Hot Rod almost upset me, i quickly realized you mean Hotrod to Rodimus Prime conversion and i can get behind that long as i get a SG ver. to replace SG Ghost Calidus(amazing figure to be sure but i want Primes)

I wonder if the 3Ps mostly focus on MP and Legends because that's where the money is. Seems a bit odd, I'd assume the CHUG scale would have a broader appeal.

I'll quote you instead, then. ;)  I thought about MakeToys' version for a while after it was announced, but it is a different size than Universe Superion with FansProject upgrades, FansProject Intimidator, FansProject Colossus, and MakeToys' Green Giant, which were the 3rd Party combiners I wanted before Combiner Wars started. Not very many upgrade kits for CW that I like anyway, many upgrades I want would probably have to be custom made, but I just don't have the time, money, or skill to do those right now. :lolol  Although, I'd still consider MakeToys' Green Giant for the right price. :lolol
That has nothing to do with the point I was making. I'll just let mx-01 archon explain my point:
    Basically this.

I wish more companies would focus on CHUG!! So much potential lies here, but they're all too busy frantically trying to appease MP and Legends collectors. Not that those figures are bad (most of them, anyway), but it leaves quite a lot of potential customers hanging out, giving their money to someone else, and leaves quite a lot of money on the table, if you ask me.

yeah i have yellow giant it was my first love of 3p i think, it's hard to remember in 2012 which i got first, Giant, Herc, or Shadow Commander, but those 3 put me in the screw hastakomy group, though i have a few of their figures w/o 3d party add ons (u vector sigma and u nemesis prime). I will agree that there's a lot of potential being left out with chug bcuz of mp and legends but we still have some great companies doing us favors like MT, MMC, Planet X, and PE, TFC when they put their mind into releasing stuff, so it's not like we're completely in the dark. WFC/FoC, Reformated, CD have been awesome and TFC has completely around in quality after Poseidon. PE has also been working wonders in their BW/II/Neo format and GT is giving us quality combiners to go with the likes of Ordin, Warbatron, F/N Rex and the likes. I think it was @LazyAza that said it best, CHUG isn't gone we just aren't looking at it and realizing how much is really offered to us bcuz the post that are usually front and center and the winners are always mp and legends

Yeah, I actually find myself looking at KO companies a bit more than 3rd Party companies lately. I want to get the JuJiang Jet Commander set (OS KO Combiner Wars Superion). It is the exact same height as Titan Class Devastator, and with the DNA Designs upgrade kit on the Unite Warriors Devastator, Those two would look awesome in a display together!!! :lol  And it's Vector Prime, not Vector Sigma. ;)
