I can’t wait for that Thrust. Finally he has his wings closer to his hips!

I need to just preorder all three of these right now. I totally passed n the official coneheads. So I’ll have the original three seekers from Takara and maketoys for the coneheads.

Anyone who thinks the Takara ones are over-toon-ified/simplified to the point of ugliness/sillyness, and who thinks the iGear ones are too much of a hack-job of MP F-15 parts, re-using and modifying the tailfins etc when the Coneheads should clearly have completely new tailfins, wingtips, and canards that look absolutely nothing like an F-15's. (which leads to oddities like tail-only features showing up on the wings, etc)

Toyworld's are much better, but still a few things irk me. I think Toyworld's weapons and colors, with the MT basic mold, would be about perfect.

Well I went all in on Takaras coneheads. I imagine this mold will appeal to a very small group. Most G1 seeker fanatics (including myself) want all seekers to share the same base mold. And after buying the originals, conheads, sunstorm, rainmakers, etc, nobody is going to $tart from $cratch.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion on these & what they are willing to spend their hard earned money on... & ultimately what fits best with their collection. So if you hate these & cast bad judgement on them or love them & feel Takaras mold is outdated. In the end it's ultimately your choice...
1.Will you add these to your existing seeker collection
2 Replace existing seeker collection with these
3 keep existing seeker collection & forget these
4 start from scratch in your seeker collection with these

I for one love my Maketoys Starscream & can't wait for Skywarp & Thundercracker along with these guys when they are avail. I prefer anything that is more G1 toon accurate because that's the characters designs I grew up with.
Just not sure what to do with my 11 other Takara seekers.

There's actually seems to be enough collectors out there to warrant MT doing the full seeker set. And from reading these threads there are quite a few willing to swap out the Hastak mold for this one.

I was fortunate enough to jump out of the official seekers when I received my Takara Thrust. For what they charged for Thrust, who was my most wanted seeker..they should have been ashamed of themselves. I got a floppy mess of a bot that at that point was the most expensive piece in my collection. At that point I lost all interest in the seeker molds and sold him and Ramjet off.

I would've gotten the Toyworld coneheads but they were to big..now I have a seeker mold to be interested in. Glad I never went down the Hastak path on these guys.

Funny cause Thrust is my favorite Takara seeker. Were probably not looking for the same things in a seeker. Ill admit he was a bit floppy. But nothing horrible. I just pose them and leave them on a shelf to admire. I rarely transform them. So im cool with the Takara. I love the aesthetic. One thing that makes these Maketoys seekers so ugly are the tiny pin heads. Why are so many 3rd partys obsessed with small heads? It seems to be a rampant issue in non-offical figures.

I'm a G1 seeker fanatic (see avatar, and I've owned about every Thundercracker ever made asides from Kreo and Machine Wars)-----but I do not love all seekers equally. I have never owned all of them at once in the same mold/style and have little desire to. My only MP has been 3 variations of TC, and I'm waiting for "the perfect Dirge". Also, with how different the coneheads are "supposed" to be (they made them as different as possible from the original 3 in the toon, despite the limitations of the original mold), I have no qualms, and in fact probably even prefer, that the coneheads have a different base mold than the originals.

But that's just me. I'm basically looking for "the ultimate TC" and "the ultimate Dirge". I'd take a nice Ramjet, but I REALLY don't like how ANYONE has done him yet, MP style. They all seem to just not "get" what his wings, engines, and tailfins should look like. (more than any of the others, he suffers from "trying to re-use F-15 parts" for his very non-F-15-like parts)

Well being a traditionalist, I consider all G1 seekers F-15s with the coneheads being modified for whatever reason. I just cant mix em up. I strongly believe in the brothers concept of G1. I couldnt have a Prowl or a Smokescreen that isnt a repaint of Bluestreak either. Same goes for Hoist/Trailbreaker, Inferno/Grapple, Ironhide/Ratchet, Sideswipe/Red Alert, etc. Im all for them having different heads and vehicular accessories to differentiate them, but for me the mold being central is a must. Additionally, many fictions portray the seekers as clones of Starscream so using the same mold makes even more sense. Its their colors, special powers, and personalities that make the character for me, not a mold difference. But thats because im a traditionalist. Im even bothered that Slipstream is a different mold in my CHUG collection. I was also pissed that we never got a Thrust or Dirge in the 2007 movie mold to go with the other 4 seekers.

I can see and respect your point on this. I however, bought one Official Seeker, and it was a complete mess. Parts falling off, parts loose in the box, it was definitely not worth it. I like Maketoys' take on these figures, and once I had Meteor in hand, I sold off my one Official Seeker. I'm glad I was not all in on those. Now, I have the next two on pre-order and will most likely round out the set with these as well. I think all together they will look fantastic as a set.

Another issue I have with the maketoys seeker is the extremely small head. 3rd parties seem to have this obsession with small heads. Also the gold painted cockpit is hideous. I want clear plastic all day.

    This.
Clear plastic cockpits are where the Takara/Yes Model and Zeta versions out perform MT IMO. At the very least MT should make it clear gold/yellow tint or the option to switch to a translucent clear cockpit for alt mode.

I'll probably replace my TT Seekers with the MT versions, but I will definitely pass on these. I love my ToyWorld Coneheads so much; it means a lot to me that they made the nosecones the actual heads. That's not happening here, correct?

I have the Yes Model MP-11 Coneheads and, excluding cost, there are two things that would compel me to replace them with the MT Coneheads:
1 - If having MT Seekers and MP-11 Coneheads looks strange because they are so different
2 - If the MT Coneheads are engineered to have wings/tailfins that fold away more compactly, such that they take up less shelf space than the MP-11 versions

While I find some aspects of Meteor to be lacking, I am considering replacing my MP-11 Yes Model Seekers with Meteor, Lightning, and Skycrow. If that happens, I'll have an idea whether or not #1 is enough motivation to replace the Coneheads as well.

I'll be adding jream's intake fanblades and possibly the shin thrusters (though I prefer parts that screw, tension, or snap into place rather than require adhesive) to the Seekers, so that may help tie them in to the MP-11 Coneheads a little better. The biggest miss after those are taken care of will be fully articulated fingers, which I consider a must on Seeker-sized MPs and I have the KFC hands on all six of my MP-11 Seeker and Conehead figures.

I love the MT Seeker mold!!

    2228E8D8-79E5-4E62-A3D7-6A36E9545860.jpeg

I jumped ship on the TT Coneheads because it seemed that's around when their prices spiked toward unreasonable. I passed on official Megatron and the upcoming BW Dinobot and Megs for the same reason.

So I'm very much looking forward to having these guys on my shelf!

I still have the igear molds back from when they came out and LOVE their jet modes so they might hang out somewhere in a separate display... haven't decided

I am pretty much in the same place you are. I may jump into some TT KOs on the Beast Wars stuff but I am basically out from TT completely. They really rubbed me the wrong way with the Seeker game and everything recently except Sunstreaker that was excellent. I love the MT Seeker mold and have the three now and will get the Coneheads. I am pissed at Maketoys for blowing this for so long but resigned to needing to have them. I think we all would have waited if they hadn't been so stupid and not kept up communication. No one can convince me they weren't stupid in how they handled the Seekers. That was literally a gold mine they didn't respect. Other things could have waited. They slow played their Despotron and got screwed too. I think their love of their other lines clouded their judgment when it came to what was required of them in this marketplace and it hurt them. Their Despotron is fantastic as is their Seeker mold.

If you ever get the itch for the TT Seekers, avoid the official Takara versions and go for the higher quality, accessory loaded Yes Model/BB7 KO Takara seekers instead. They're much cheaper in price than Takara yet much higher quality.

Aren't Thrust's wings supposed to be attached to his thighs? That's how it was in the show.

As much as I like the MT versions, I’m already too deep on the MP-11 mold (6 at current count) to justify replacing the lot again… particularly as I’m trying to boost their ranks with Pumpkingonzo customs, and he uses MP-11’s. That shelf needs to have a uniform look about them.

I have been able to justify another Starscream for my Decepticon High Command display, so have Meteor… and couldn’t resist getting one of Maas’s tetrajets as well. I would have preferred one of the less famous seekers like Sunstorm, Acid Storm, Hotlink, etc. (those as tetrajets makes more sense to me), but as they’re not doing those (currently), I’ve pre-ordered a third version of Starscream.

As far as the coneheads go, I’ve got the Toyworld versions. I think their larger size and menacing/weird faces really works with my “10 deadliest killers” display. I was never tempted by the HasTak versions, as quite frankly, I thought they looked appalling. The only gripe I have with my Toyworld figures is Thrust… his wings are behind his shoulders. That’s not a bad thing, as I still think it suits him and he looks really good… far less clunky. But I would like a good version with the wings set much lower as well, and Maketoys looks like it could fit the part. The only think putting me off still, is those enormous, stupid looking kneepads. I know they’re toy and ‘toon accurate… but it seems to me like they’re getting larger and larger, so now they just appear comical. I would prefer those be removable.

I completely missed that jream made stuff for the MT Seeker mold. I've got to stop ceasing to follow threads once I finally have the figure.
