Its more amazing when it comes from takara and everyone excuses their antics because of a name IMHO. I mean IDK, exploding Rodimus, paint chipping megs, falling fingers and gappy chest MP10, an entire line of Lambors that cant hold a gun...Freaking Tracks....People forget those and throw them into the "never happened bin".

Takara is a multimillion company that has (supposedly) the means to oversee and Iron out such problems yet I dont see it happening and yet here we are talking about one man projects that didnt end up well.....

Just to clarify: I dont give up an excused paper to anyone, I dont really care who makes a mess, I expect the product to always be flawless as it should be. But lets not forget that such offenses are universal.

I would love to tell you it’s fine, but it really is not.
Trying to display it in gun mode (my preferred) is a complete nightmare, nothing stays together.
I like the design (still) but the materials are lacking. Shame.

The gun mode design is so good that I'm looking for a toy gun that looks like it. As for the rest of the figure... well, a reviewer threw it into his toilet in disgust. Then he fished it out and cleaned it.

I'm shocked this dude hasn't hit clearance already. For half price I would pick it up.

    Because that's still too expensive.

Same. Under $70 shipped and I might get it to hang on the wall in gun mode.

Well, just watch Jobby the hong's review video . It's sum it all. Only display him as gun mode cause only in gun mode it stay still while in robot mode, it's definately disaster. I don't have ability to repair or to repaint. I bought a figure in hope to enjoy it. But this is the most disappointed figure i ever made.

Bot mode has to be put into the sweet spot for poses. If you pose it, you have to be prepared to re-peg a couple things that pop out of place.

This is not the only figure who does this. Reminds me of DNA Bludgeon or Perfect Effect Lio Convoy.
In recent memory, I got this Genesis Climber Mospeada | Robotech Mospeada Figure
Yes, it's $200, and yes shit pops off of it. Like 4 or 5 things at one time if you're lucky. (I'll not go over the paint issues).

That is Sentinel, a premium figure company.

It has become something I can live with.

The last posts in that thread were from February of this year, so not that long ago. I'm sure a bump instead of a new thread wouldn't have bothered anyone.

Mine is still unmodded, but Haydenite here showed what could be done with a little work.
    Even stock he looks good.

One thing to point out is both of those figures were done by one person. I'm more inclined to believe they were screwed over. That doesn't make me want to buy Spinout.
What kind of push or clout do you think a single person has using a factory (in possibly a different country), when they're making a small run of a single product? That's rhetorical, by the way.
That one guy would be the lowest priority compared to a company who has a long history with a factory, producing many more runs of products.

Weird, as gun mode has been the most solid mode for me. Tank is a close second.

I agree with Vangelus' assessment. I dig the style he went for (EJ Su IDW), and I dig the ambition of gun and tank alts. It's not for everyone though.

    I like him alright.

One of these figures stays tabbed together in alt mode. Hint: It's not Prime.

    Agree with everything said here.
Yes he is a loose floppy POS.
    Yes he had enormous potential.
No he didn't come even close to realising that potential.

As @Haydenite shows, give him a a coat of silver paint and he looks better. But he still isn't a pretty looking Megatron. He reminds me more of TW Hegemon than any of the other MP scale Megatron - he's even blockier than DX9's thing.

Yes gun mode looks amazing, but it's a terrifying prospect getting him into that mode. You basically unpeg everything, have to gently manipulate and balance this loose pile of interconnected bits while you carefully peg it all back together again.
I need to get out my Future and spend an afternoon just hitting all his joints as I beleive that will tighten things up. Till then he's a place and forget piece.
I have mine posed next to POTOP Potimus in my Opti/Megs collection as the unpainted plastic, hollowness, blockiness etc fit's in well with the Hasbro-esque stylings. He looks like a $60 Hasbro figure, not a $130 3rd party MP.

As for the whole "the factory screwed him over" excuse, I don't really accept that for this, I don't like it for Spin-out, and I was frankly disgusted when MMC tried to use it as an excuse for their incorrect paint apps on Thunderclash.
You choose the factory, you manage the project and you pay for it, you sell it and keep any profits, you need to accept responsibility for what your contractor produces. Own your mistakes. Not syaing you have to make good on it, or try and fix it or anything like that, just don't try and wave that flag as an "It's not my fault" excuse. Leia didn't accept that from Han in Empire, and I don't accept it here.

On the bright side, I haven't really seen that excuse making from the Bold Forms guy, and while Omni said it, het did at least try and make good with designing fixes for his POS.

TLD: Buy it if you must but set your expectations low and handle with care.

Anyone else hoping a high end knockoff company like Wei Jhang take him and Lonewolf and fix all the design and QC issues?

I've pre-ordred the re-release: would you elaborate on the paint issues? With all the QC in mind, do you still recommend it?

Hope you don't mind me saying but I always enjoy your photos - they convey the joy of the hobby of toy robots :)

Honestly? I'm not convinced they could or that they should. The transformation is way too fiddly, there are so many tiny and fragile small parts. The aesthetics in bot mode are kind of average, the tank is okay but not worth the effort to get to it, and while the gun mode is tops, it's also a nightmare to transform into.
Inproving the plastic quality/thickness would mean re-doing all the tolerances to allow everything to still fit together, and you run the risk of making joints too tight and tiny bits snapping off all over the place. Add on a coat of decent paint (which would no doubt chip and flake like crazy given how fidddly this is) and you end up wioth a whole new set of problems.
We've already got so many MP Megatrons, some that tank, some that gun. This is the only one I can think of that both tanks and guns but I just don't feel it does it well enough to bother.
It would be much better for someone to start again from scratch and do it properly.
Maybe if Zeta ever starts to design new figures instead of constantly pumping out their old ToyWorld stuff, they could do a proper triple changer to match Primorion?
Because that's teh other thing, this really doesn't go with any MP scale Optimus. I have it with my POTOP OPtimus but if I'm completely honest? POTP is a better Optimus than Gladius is a Megatron. It doesn't fit with MP-10, or Primorion, it certainly won't look good with Optimus V3.

    Very well said sir.

As much as I love Jobby, it is pretty hard to consider his reviews as Legit. Only as you can see he totally exaggerates certain aspects of things to get a laugh. Yeah Gladius ended in the toilet but in reality do you think he would have put it in the toilet? Of course not. it was done for effect and for humor, to make a point. I love watching Jobby stuff but I would never ever in my life ever base a purchase off his opinion.

Photos are absolutely stunning. Now if yours was painted as the previous photo.....well that would be amazing.

Being involved with both Omni and with Bold Forms, I can tell you with 100% certainty, at times things are just out of your control.

I think that what is greatly missunderstood about Spin-out is that Omni was the DESIGNER only. He had nothing to do with the manufacturing or distribution or anything. He made a design and then the design was transferred to someone else who re-engineered it and then manufactured it and distributed it. Omni had zero say in the process once it was handed over and was in the dark about most of everything that happened with it. Absolutely no blame can be held on Omni and he went so far as to try and help the community with fixes and suggestions and was totally jumped on it for that by a fairly ungrateful community.

As for the Bold Forms thing, again it was kind of taken out of his control and then finished and distributed with very little say from himself. Which is a real shame as I was working close with the company that did put it out but I did not know about this project until it was actually all finished otherwise I would have given it a few more passes in the tolerance control area. Again another instance where even those within the company don't know exactly what is going on. It happens a lot with 3p, not the best communicators in the world. Ask anyone who has tried to work retail with any of them. It is a total nightmare at times. So again in this instance, it is unfortunate as the end result was a little rushed out the door and it really needed a few more passes before it was released.

That being said, I like it as a figure for the most part. I did enjoy the poses and it does a lot of things that are pretty unheard of even for 3p. it is a little over engineered I think but I totally see what the designer was going for with it. I does have some decent shelf presence and while the modes are a challenge, the gun mode is a huge satisfying accomplishment once it is together. I do wish a lot of the posing joints were a little tighter and as I have never done the floor polish trick on anything, it may be of a big help in this case.

Spend the money if you have it and you are aware of what you are getting into. I am sure eventually it will go on clearance somewhere but I have not heard of anyone too eager to dump them for next to nothing at this time.

I consider Gladius to be the embodiment of the IDW version of Megatron. So I consider him part and parcel with GT IDW Prime. That's the one I usually put with his guy. Also, I am waiting to see how much taller the KO version of POTP prime will be !! Since I'm gonna get that one as well !!
