Which, in turn, leads to fewer people willing to go out of their way for others.

I had the opposite situation when Grotusque came out, was able to help out some of our overseas members but I had to do it 2 at a time to ensure I didn't end up with a wall of Grotusques.

Shipping Trip abroad? They're better off buying local! For those near Ollie's and still looking, I'd say keep checking, I'm sure some will be returned soon when people do the math.

I last tried doing this when RTS Windcharger - a hard-to-find scout class figure in 2011 commanding anywhere from $30-50 - started appearing at Five Below later that year. I charged $5 plus S&H. Other people did the same. You wouldn't believe (or maybe you can) the number of people scrutinizing the cost to ship a MOSC scout within the states. It ranged anywhere from $5-10, which was pretty damn reasonable all things considered. The most people would've been paying was $15, not a bad price for a figure that was going for much more than that. If people were bitching about the cost to ship a tiny figure like that, then you can surely understand why I didn't even want to deal with helping people score a cheap Fort Max (or, in this case, a cheap Trypticon).

Heres the way I look at it. I'm offering to pay $100 if someone can ship a Trypticon to North Dakota. I figure that covers cost, shipping, and someone's time. That's still 70 dallors less then what I'm going to pay on bbts(which I'm still willing to pay if I have to.) I get a deal and someone I help someone make some extra cash. Win win I think. I consider scalping if someone picks up a 50 dallors toy and sells it for 200. That's just wrong to me.

    Yup, i can feel ya.

Recently tried to give away for free MP Hot Rods fishing rod. Quoted around $7 shipping because it's fragile and would need to be in a box. No reply. People don't seem to realize, shipping has gotten expensive. I tell my colleagues it's a good thing for us as we do retail IT. As shipping increases the costs for e-commerce increase since everything needs to be shipped. As a result the advantage ecom has over traditional retail is dropping. At least for everyday items.

Transformers (at least the luxury items like masterpiece) will remain ecom but clothing etc will shift back to brick and mortar. Sadly too late for many smaller stores.

Happened to me last year with Fortress Maximus, I bought an extra one for a board member and returned it when they dropped off the face of the Earth. That's why with Trypticon I limited myself to letting people know where it was and when....

What's asinine is that USPS shipping doesn't scale much from pound 1 to pound 5 until you cross a postal zone and it jumps an order of magnitude. Small packages so heavily subsidize larger packages that it re-tards the volume of commerce that should be going through the postal service and driving costs down.

Today I called each Ollie's in my metro area until I found one that still had it. I picked up 2 of them. In addition they knocked the price down to $34.99 each because the boxes were beat up a little.

The ironic thing is I remember when TR Trypticon first came out and was being sold at regular retail price, I posted something about me deciding to wait until it goes for super cheap at Ollie's like with TR Fort Max. At least one person replied to my post saying they doubt it would happen and that I shouldn't get my hopes up. Well, several months later here we are.

That, good sir, is some fine dino AND bargain hunting. Very nice score indeed! I'm still pretty content i got mine for $75 from Amazon last holiday. No Ollie's in my area so that's about as good as it gets for me.

Going forward when a TR or similar sized city bot/con hits the market, I'll simply wait for it to hit Ollie's for cheap.

Earlier this year I tried to help out with the 5 Below Ramhorns. I shipped out 5 of them just for cost plus shipping with tracking. But i stopped after having to deal with the complaints. People don’t seem to realize that hey, there’s tax and shipping fees with tracking isn’t cheap. Stamps aren’t .28 cents anymore either.

I also sent a couple of Ramhorn's out at $9 each. That's $5 for the figure, less than a dollar for the bubble mailer, and around $3 for first class shipping (includes tracking).
I like helping others, but seeing them being taken advantage of (not at all saying you did) makes me hesitant about who I help.
