yeah...that aint a toon face. we goin full toon yo...cant be having no toy aesthetics. I do think that the mp12+ face was very good...much better than the first attempt with mp12.

 

the gun holds like a champ in the + version of this mold. If you love mp12...then you gotta...GOTTA get the + version. It is great.

 

I always hated the feet on MP12, they look like an afterthought to a well designed figure.

 

Feet didnt bother me as much as the leg itself. I hate hollow spaces and I believe they might have worked a little better his sides with the tires. Makes the leg look a bit too....girthy?

 

So who wants my MP-12+ once I break down and order this guy?  

 

I don't think there's a clear winner out of TT's or BC's Sideswipe face sculpts, really - it's just going to come down to personal taste. I agree with boomerdave that v1 Sideswipe's diamond eyes were pretty horrible (squinty), but subsequent releases and MP-12+, which used the Red Alert face, looked much better. Here's a comparison of MP-12+ and Steamroll against some shots taken from the cartoon:



Badcube gets the shape of the eyes closer to the cartoon and again better matches the cartoon in the lack of goatee, but the MP has a much better/more accurate nose shape, the over all face shape is more defined and more like the cartoon, and its eyes correctly meet the bridge of the nose (whereas Badcube's eyes are spaced too far apart and so have a gap between them and the nose). Badcube's ears/antennae are more like the cartoon (whereas the MP's are modelled after the toy), but the over-all helmet shape seems to me a little better on the MP. The MP might lose some points for those big lips, too.

Of course, "accuracy" varies between cartoon frames.  

Personally, I prefer MP-12+'s face sculpt so far, because it seems younger, less grumpy and to capture more of the spirit of the character. I think this might mainly be down to the far-spaced eyes and the bulbous nose shape on the BC version, but I look forward to see BC's under better lighting. BC's is definitely more cartoon-like in intention, but whether it captures the character is purely a matter of opinion.

 

Thinner head would look better. Both seem quite bulbous.

 

It's totally the hands. The fingers are pinned too far back so when the hand is closed all the way it actually pushes the gun handle to the side...

 

I'm enjoying my KO version just fine, thank you!

yeah...the KO sucks...I should know I have had 3 of them before getting my + version. Do yourself a favor and grab one (mp12+) if you can get it cheap. Or get the BC version....it looks to be the best MP SS option yet.

 

Yeah the "+" version is a much better face to be honest. I wish my V1 had that face but it's the original so it's more (as Pilot00 said) "I'm constipated and in pain" than "Hey....I'm Sideswipe! How you doin?". I think I like the BC effort the best but it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination.

 

Two reasons I'm buying this guy:
1. It's Sideswipe
2. HE HAS HIS JETPACK. Something Takara is apparently incapable of including with any version of MP12, but 2 different 3Ps were able to include with their offerings.

 

I am surprised with myself, each time I learn that a figure is been released without a useless accessory that I never plan to use (said Jetpack or Wheeljacks immobilizer) at how much frustated I get over the fact.

 

Well for what we pay for these, you'd think they'd toss them in without too much of a mark up. As Emgo says "Options...it's a thing you can do. Your toy, display it how you wish".

I honestly don't use most accessories that come out with the figures but once in a blue moon I'll use one...like Grapple and that model of his power tower. That one I used.

 

My wheeljack didn’t come with any tools. Wheeljack should have tools. So he got Sunsurge’s screwdriver...

 

Wheeljack + volatile components + alcoholic beverage.......yup, nothing could possibly go wrong there     

 

Put my preorder in for Sideswipe here. I very much like what I'm seeing. Hope it gets released somewhat on time.

 

I got the DR Wu Engineers pack for mine. Has tools and stuff for him...including the Shockblast Cannon which is cool.

 

Does this mean we might get a v2 Swipe from TT soon? Because the only thing that's stopping me from liking this figure is the headsculpt. And will the jet pack be compatible with the upcoming v3 Prime?
