Things slightly changed since then. After the CinemaCon reactions and the success of A Quiet Place led Paramount to belive that Bumblebee can be saved and may generate a decent amount of money. I believe that led to finally pulling the plug on the Cinematic Universe and take it on whatever direction Bumblebee is taking.

We could only be so lucky. Unfortunately, G1 nostalgia is alive and well and will be around for quite awhile.

Honestly, I'm all for killing the stupid Transformers Cinematic Universe idea (it wasn't really one to begin with, just a set of linear sequels) and using Bumblebee to launch a completely new continuity. But it needs to sever all ties to the previous films if it is going to have a chance at the box office because the general public don't want TLK-lite.

So it’s bad a reboot then if bumblebee the movie is indeed the reboot I’ll be fine as long they keep Travis and I’m the 80s era

It's been time for a hard reboot for awhile now.

I mean, the writing was on the wall once profits started falling. Just like I said before. People, you gotta understand that falling revenue is a downward trend that any profit minded people will not want to see a trend go south like the movies did. End of story. Yeah, the movies made money, but not as much money as the previous ones. Transformers 6 was guaranteed to not make as much much money as 5 would have. I'd bet money on that.

Negative perceptions persist for a long, LONG time. Take it from me as a Judge Dredd and GI Joe fan. Dredd on the big screen's reputation had been shattered by the 1995 Stallone Judge Dredd movie. It was such a bad film for people that, despite the 2012 film being as spiritually true to Dredd as possible with a new coat of paint over it, the movie still did poorly, with people thinking it was a sequel to the '95 film. Likewise, as a Joe fan, the death of the franchise can be laid upon the feet of Rise of Cobra. That movie damaged the franchise tremendously, and while Retaliation was a thousand times better than RoC, the damage had already been done. While Retaliation wasn't perfect it was as good as a GI Joe story you were gonna get. As a life long fan I loved it!

The Transformers movies are a joke to the common audience. Let's not try to think otherwise. People will pay money for bad movies. Hell, I didn't care for Movie 1, and I actively despised ROTF, and DOTM wasn't much better but it was better than ROTF. I paid money to see those in theaters, so just because a movie made money doesn't necessarily reflect on it's quality. That being said...I liked AoE and TLK. As someone who more or less disliked the first three, I felt these two movies were starting to be a better trilogy than the first.

I'll go watch the BB movie, but it's got an uphill battle to climb.

I just hope they follow a business practice that makes sane, quality movies. Bayformers had plenty of chances but it was a sick dog that needed to be put down.

You should just be a fan of something else, references to G1 should be normal in a Transformers Movie.

Won't mean a d*mn thing if the new movies aren't any better. And if superhero fatigue can hit you after Marvel's parade of hits, imagine the robot fatigue after this parade of shite.

Not necessary, just appreciated. And who else they gonna pander to... Armada? Energon? U jealous, brah?

Would it be TRULY be a Transformers without him? Lol

It would definitely make since. As much as I loved the movies the more I watched them the less they made since.

If you think of these movies as Miley Cyrus, then Movie 1 was Hanna Montana and TLK was the MV for Wrecking Ball.
Stuff just went out of control.

I agree with almost everything you said except one thing. Rather than Spike's dad, I would prefer the other human they meet for the first time is Marissa Faireborn. Maybe just because I'm a fan of her, but still.

Well, you what they say, don't count your chickens until they hatch (is that how it goes?) What I mean by that my friend is that, YES, perception of TF movies is far from ideal, but like others have said, if the reactions to the CinemaCon footage is any indication, this one has better chances than the rest.

    Well said.

Glad someone summed it up pretty nicely.

This is like when your mom sits you down and says "Your father and I are getting a divorce," but your dad won't talk about it. Then months later your dad comes to you and says "Your mom and I are getting a divorce."

And you're like, "Uhh, yeah, Dad, I know. Mom told me. A long time ago."
