I am now convinced there is a singular person in the Bloomingdale area doing the majority of these legends swaps, open returns and missing parts.

It’s always the same 5 stores hit in the area. Myself and my wife have run in to someone a more than few times (mid to late 20’s looking Asian woman) who we suspect is a reseller of some kind in the area while we are out during late night hours at the 24 hour locations.
She is always looking for multiple cases of the same figures or waves. I’ve seen this person at least 7 times in the last year alone and she is always asking for backroom pulls or returning at the customer service desk or skulking in the toy aisles.

The second to last time I had run in to her she was attempting to get the case of Walmart exclusive thanos pulled before someone was able to pull the case for me. She got upset with me when the case was pulled by the assistant helping me and I took one for myself and my wife (who was with me in the store, but not with me physically at the time the case came out)

She complained (to me) that I was attempting to scalp them and it wasn’t fair to her for me to take 2 of the figures. I explained to her the other thanos was for my wife right as my wife walked up beside us from her shopping in another area of the store. the lady immediately left the aisle not taking a single figure for herself. We proceed to leave the aisle and move to the end cap area when we noticed her hovering the aisles side eyeing us as if she was waiting for us to leave. we left and proceed to do a little mkre shopping in the grocery section. When we noticed her in the self check out area with the box and all 4 left over thanos with her.

My wife and I saw her again tonight returning legends at the Walmart across from the target. She was returning a few figures from the gaudian wave all repackaged in to the current lizard Spider-Man wave boxes.

We have also caught her returning figuarts ninja turtles to Barnes and noble about a year and a half ago during a clearance sale when they where going for around $25 bucks a piece without the turtle figures in the boxes. She had repacked them with playmates reissued 90’s turtles inside.

I suspect she has also been the one who returned about 7 Black Panther and killmonger figures to Meijer in that area who where all missing their BAF parts. We have seen her in that store before buying multiples of that wave and know she frequents it’s toy section.

If she is not “the cause” she is most assuredly a major portion of the mess happening in that area. She is sometimes with an older white guy who I suspect is the actual “brains” of their little schemes, but’s it’s been some time since I have seen her alongside him in my run ins with her.

Phew, sorry for the long post. It’s been a few years of chance run ins with this lady to get me to the point feeling comfortable mentioning her here to the other locals affected. I didn’t just want to start accusing people, but I’ve had so many odd runs ins with her now that it’s clear she is part of the problem.

She must make it up to Carpentersville Walmart too, because there are a bunch of MLs missing their BAF parts there. Too bad you couldn’t call her out when she was making the returns.

I would have brought that to the attention of store security or a manager on the spot

I would have confronted her broke ass if I saw her trying to return switch out figures at customer service!! I don't care if the IDIOT is male or female, what the MORON is doing is hurting the rest of us trying to find and buy figures we want and need! My wife is sick of seeing all the figures with missing baf pieces too so I pray the little POS doesn't run into my wife because she is a 5'5 little firecracker who has no problems letting BS people have it!

So not to play devils advocate. This person may be filthy rich, very intelligent, and I will agree on POS. The bottom line, we want these things, none of us need them. The person doing the repacking and returning with missing pieces is performing criminal acts, and will continue to until caught by the proper authorities. So not to downplay your wife or anyone else’s sentiment this issue won’t go away because you spoke your mind in a toy aisle. Do the right thing. Alert the proper people and don’t end up in a viral video.

My wife has told the returns desk at Walmart and Barnes an noble the things she was returning are not the products that are suppose to be in the packaging.
Walmart is a lost cause, They simply do not care.
They just look at you sideways of you try to explain what has happened and the product will be back on the shelf the next day.

Barnes and noble did care but by the time we had noticed what was happening she was already out of the building and the deal was done.

If I had to guess what she is doing I would say eBay seller or comic shop reseller. She seems to always prioritize new and high demand items and BAF parts.

Wonder if Aaron at WaxPax has dealings with the POS and knows about her. She has to be selling/trading the baf pieces and loose figs to someone local or using ebay/craigslist/facebook marketplace!

I’ll talk to Dave at Quake and Johnathan at SMASH to see if they know anything.

Glad we have an idea what to look for now. This also explains why I never find any legends at walMart, ever.

I’m glad you spoke to the manager. I’d confront her rationally and in a non threatening tone just to say people are onto her and Though I am a good person but someone else may not be.

Unless I saw her returning a 90s ToyBiz figure repackaged. Then I would straight up call for security and have them pull video of when she bought them item.

Feel free to ignore anyone who has nothing of interest for you. The local boards often have related local talk in them as well.

I highly doubt it’s one person doing “everything” but it’s going to be “the same” people who constantly keep doing this.

I think the Targets around us don't quite understand how to deal with the BAF parts being stolen. The Palatine Target resorted to putting a security tag around each box. Thing is when I looked someone had still stolen the parts because as we know they purchase the figures, steal the piece, then return it with the piece missing.

Theres a POTP Blackwing at Blono Walmart on Greenbrier. Nothing else of interest. The SS Optimus Primes both have the non-frosted blades if that matters to anybody

1 Evil Rodimus at the Target in Bolingbrook, no interest so I left it.

Also found a ML Cable there and took it home.
