I'd be on board for a more anime accurate SS, but this has a few issues. The head/face is awful. The rocket launcher sacrifices size/accuracy to avoid being a separate part. The body changes from Lambor are good but not significant enough, imo.

Best part about this guy is car mode, but that was never an issue with Lambor (rubber tires aside).

 

I cant get the hate. If you guys dont like them kudos to you. I already Own two Lambors. TigerTrack and Clampdown. TTs Sideswipe and RedAlert and SideswipeG2 (and their +) didnt provide anything on the table for me. Having them in a slightly different mold might be enough to convince me to dib on those. Not all of us want the same again and again. Plus if you do own all the lambors already, true its not enough for buying those, but for the rest of us, its good enough reason.

EDIT: Transformation wise, I dont believe it will be that complicated. Its obviously retooled from the official mold. Not THAT many different parts from the looks of it.

 

For some reason I really like this. The MP Sideswipe mold hasn't aged well and I really like how this looks next to MP-39. I'm probably in on this.

 

I like that BC is coming after Takara. I'm pretty happy overall with my TT Swipe, except for his too-small head; the hollow legs never bugged me all that much. Not sure I like this enough to replace the TT version, given that there are other figures that compel me more and I'm trying to slowly wind down my collecting. OTH, I never got TT Red Alert, so I much more likely to go in on BC's version.

 

Would have liked the arm wings on swipe like they did with red but I am in the minority there.

 

I like the narrower chest, but the rest isn't enough of an improvement to make me want to replace my 4 official Lambo molds.

 

This shows how much we need a v3 Optimus Prime.

 

I keep looking at the chest and it looks remarkably similar to that mod we saw on mp12 a few months back. I wonder if that was incorporated into the design.

It worked for MT Meteor, despite the thousand MP03 and MP11 versions (and KOs!). I believe it can work here too.

 

This seems like such an odd move, commercially speaking. Sure, a section of the fanbase may prefer this to the official, and a section of those people might buy it. But why take that gamble when you can target an untackled G1 character? They saw what happened to Sunsurge prices once the Sunstreaker MP was announced, right?

As for me, I remain a fan of MP-12 so will likely stick with that. While I thought v2 Huff was great (and boasted a good transformation - yeah, a Badcube bot with an enjoyable transformation!) and actually think the BC design looks just fine, I just can't really see me swapping this out for the official.

I think the head is mostly what throws him off. It looks oddly small and then of course the ugly face.

However, I could see Red Alert working out (as I don't own one as of yet) and might get him if reviews turn out to be good.

 

Meteor and his black and blue chums say hi. Having a Takara badge doesn't make things 'The Best' and now we get the option of having Red Alert in all his cartoon glory or a Sideswipe that can collapse his chest to be more cartoony. Key word 'option', you can stick with the officials if you want to.

That said, ignoring the head you gotta admit, proportionally at least, when stood with MP Sunstreaker he matches the new aesthetic better than MP12.

 

Sideswipe just looks off. BC fix that head/face sculpt and its a maybe because of your Malibu Stacy level marketing tactics.
That JETPACK. Maybe just sell that Jetpack separately, as I'm sure a lot of people would buy that for their MP-10.

I'm glad that badcube is not gone but in typical 3rd party fassion they don't follow through with exsisting lines. Finish up the damn mini bots and give us a windcharger. this is a huge waste.
