Any chance now that you will have one for sale at TFCon Toronto, or at least a painted test shot?

I figured from the prototype that these would be about that size. That works for me, if they had been deluxe size then people would endlessly drone on about voyager size seekers again, or start wanting a KO maker to upscale them.

    OH SHIT SON!

I have been waiting for TRUE cybertronian alt modes for-EVAH!

Problem is, most of these windowlickers get it wrong...and assume that a different alt mode means different robot mode. Look at the tiny range of "tetra jet" - esque version toys we have gotten through the years...and NOT ONE of them has a "classic" alt mode...the way they appeared in Episode frikkin' 1 and should always look". They all had some "cybertronian" style robot mode, like a bunch of half-ass IDW wanna-be's.

    Watch the episode again.
Wheeljack has a "soccer mom" cargo van alt mode.
Bumblebee has his weird little flying saucer discuss mode.
    The seekers had tetrajet mode.
Soundwave had...whatever the fuck he did by sticking his arms out and crunching his abs a little...
    But...
All of their ROBOT modes remained UNCHANGED from their earth-style counterparts.

This actually came up in a different thread way back when MAAS Toys first teased their Skiff YEARS ago...and then they went and gave him 80's power suit shoulder pads. Peeps were all like "its mass shifting on the show but impossible to engineer in real life". Also, everyone else who has EVER done "tetrajet" or "cybertronian" seekers have messed it up and instead of giving them the proper "earth" robot mode, they look more like something out of FoC or WfC.

Thank you for finally putting in the effort to design these toys the RIGHT way...I am actually more excited for the repaints of these than ANY OTHER SEEKER RELEASE SO FAR because, for you canon purists, "Acid Storm" and the rest were only ever shown as tetrajets, NOT earth jets...ergo, ever selling them as earth jet toys in the first place is non-canonical, but that doesnt stop people from buying all 12 each and every time.

Congrats, Maas Toys...yours will be the FIRST and ONLY set I buy every "official" character repaint (pending QC reviews, 'natch).

And please OH GOD PLEASE give us a Wheeljack who turns into an astro van LOL.

Oh, and in the vein of "he's got that one thing from that one episode where he did that one thing that one time" that we have gotten so spoiled for over the last couple years, can we get Wheeljack with those energon control rods from Episode 1? KKthxbai :p

That's good to hear, because I plan on buying this and didn't want to break the thing by ripping those wings off.

For the G1 enthusiasts like myself, would you consider adding a sticker sheet which covers the cockpit and just has the tiny yellow window showing, like so?:

While I could care less what other people choose to spend their money on, I wholeheartedly agree that these absolutely need to be repainted as the Rainmakers.

Agreed in principle, though it has been said that these are not trying to be the exact MTMTE tetrajets. But still, the original trio and the rainmakers ought to be the first ones out, then the coneheads that they have obviously taken the trouble to do, then welcoming committee.

All I want are SW&TC, but I could be talked in to several others.

I'm really warming up to these guys now that they have a prototype. It'd take me a while to do so at the moment, but I'd be up for getting all the character repaints of these.

These look great in robot mode and I don't mind the modernized Tetrajet modes, especially for the coneheads. I prefer the Tetrajets here over the cartoon design.

Fine by me. The full price of $100 per figure is less than expected, early backer price of $260 for all three is even better.

This is the post from MAAS on Facebook:

So, we hope that everyone has enjoyed the full reveal of Renegade, the first of our Air Soldiers line for MAAS Select. We’ve had many questions about when it will be released and we’d like to be honest with our fans.

Renegade is the first design submitted to us from one of our new designers. Our request was for a cybertronian style alt-mode figure that maintained a classic bot look, something that hasn’t been done just right yet. Needless to say, the designer blew it out of the water. Renegade and his variants were beyond our expectations and well above our plans for the CyberTech line. Thus, we created MAAS Select as a line of higher end figures while maintaining the playability of our other figures.

However, this project did go above and beyond our budget for production, but these figures are too cool not to make. So beginning at the end of the month, we will be running a crowdfunding campaign on our website for the seed funds to get the Air Soldiers and Pointmen made. Initially the Air Soldiers will be available first at the price of $90 USD per figure or $260 for all three. The figures will not be exclusive to this campaign and will be available at online retailers later at an estimated retail price of $100 per figure but, this campaign will be the only way to get the crown and cape set for Renegade (included with each order). Note: Cape in picture is a visual model, not the final version.

Upon reaching our first unlocked goal, all six figures are guaranteed to be released on a staggered schedule. The first of the unlocked goals will unlock one of the Pointmen, available at $100 per figure. (an estimated $120 retail price) The second unlock goal will release the next Pointman and then of course, the third goal will release the third Pointmen. We may have stretch goals for repaints beyond the initial six, but we will need more of your input before any final decisions are made.

As with all our projects, we would like to have some feedback before starting the crowdfund. We’ll take all advice into account (save major changes to the figures themselves) before our launch. At the end of the day, we hope you’ll take part in getting these amazing figures made. As always, thank you for your support!

Darn it. Having to pay for them all at once, and so soon, is going to be hard to fit into the budget. What I don't get is how they're planing on releasing them online after the campaign if they need a campaign to fund them in the first place.

If those "unlocked goals" are crowdfunded exclusives, then I have no reason to consider the ones that will eventually make it to online stores.

Of course I'm starting to thin my collection out a little right now anyway, so it may be a moot point...

    :lol

They said that they plan on releasing all of the seekers and the coneheads to retail, they're just a little cheaper with the crowdfunding and you get the crown and cape if you back them. It sounds like they want to see how the demand is before they commit to seekers in other colors, but I could see them doing convention exclusives like they did with Volk and Rune. Even with those, they still made the convention exclusives available through their shop.

I completely agree with your sentiment about scaling back. There's so much stuff out there now that you have to pick and choose. I personally prefer the look of the MMC, Maketoys, and MAAS stuff, so that's the lane I'm trying to go in myself.

Since I'm not interested in the core or coneheads trio, I want Cybertronian characters likes MTMTE's Sunstorm and an Acid Storm deco or that pine green one during Ultimate Doom, crowdfunding isn't for me. Guess I'll just have to wait and hope they will eventually get to it and it won't be an overly expensive exclusive.

(btw, bit curious that the de facto Cybertronian Seekers, those that were only ever seen in cybertronian altmode, aren't among the (currently) planned releases.)
