Hasbro has just shared a new Leaked From Cybertron video via their Facebook account. Now it's time to trace the evolution of the King of the Dinobots: Grimlock. https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=1928723267197858
When the concept sketch was better than the finished product. P.S Even third-party manufacturers have started to do better than the official.
The only POTP Dinobot so disappointing that I had to skip it. FOC's Grimlock isn't perfect either but this version of Grimlock or that crappy combiner gimmick does nothing that makes it worth replacing him on my shelf.
It doesn't even seem like the concept artist did his job. Assuming the job was, "Draw a picture of a new, combining, Voyager-size, relatively-inexpensive Grimlock toy," all he did was draw MP-08 Grimlock. That's literally a drawing of MP-08 Grimlock.
You prove your point by... posting pictures of knock offs of the original toys? those look exactly like the official ones Einstein. I noticed this too lol, right down to the weird rounded hands, i suppose even the final toy is based on MP-08 but this is even more so.
So this was leaked from an image of the gray-model, and the stock photography that has the dino legs posed wrong at an angle where it looks its worst, and a sketch of a different figure?
I suppose it's possible that the main idea of this figure was something along the lines of, "Let's make a toy that's as close as possible to MP-08 Grimlock, but at a price that kids can afford." Even if we assume that, however, that drawing doesn't show much of an effort to adapt or simplify MP-08 Grimlock. That IS MP-08 Grimlock.
Is it possible that Hasbro couldn't find/didn't care to find/didn't want to find the actual concept sketches and just applied a line art filter to an image of MP-08, so they could put out similar social media content for all of the dinobots? or was there never a concept sketch to begin with...?
