Annnnnd this used to be my strategy—-catching things in the secondary market in mint condition, or waiting it out for it to shelfwarm and finally go on sale. Worked great until... the last 9 months or so. Everything on my to-get list just wouldn’t drop in price (grassor/Eligos) and in some cases just plain sold out (sovereign/crash hog). I got them all but with nothing more than eBay discounts.

the other thing, I don’t know if there’s there’s a ton of crowd overlap between the dx9 and ft . In other words, my money would be on ditkas becoming available, particularly because a lot of ditka owners were unimpressed. Most people here are happy with their gewalt.

 

Still, waiting can't hurt. The only thing you have to lose is time. Gewalts are going nowhere.

 

Got mine today and hot damn, it's glorious. Tank mode is just "okay" but the other two modes more than make up for it. He's just so solid and imposing. Very similar build to their Sixshot, which I have and love.

 

My only problem is that... DX9 Astrotrain (even with upgrades) is not on the same level of Gewalt imo (no offence to Chigurh's fans). And all the other Astrotrains from other companies will look tiny alongside Gewalt.

As a standalone, Gewalt is by far the best one (it has more "character"). But before committing, I would like to see an Astrotrain that is a good match.
Maybe the Astrotrains war started too early, when 3p where good but not "almost better than TT" like nowadays...

Thank you, sir! Here's all the G1 MPs as of February, before MMC Rumble/Frenzy and KFC Dumpyard arrived. One of these days I'll get some time to re-organize everything and pose them nicer.  

 

I know everyone is saying that dx9-08 is better than the kfc version, but am i the only one who wants them both? my goal is a cabinet of blitzwings.

 

I have both... honestly, it's like milk chocolate vs dark chocolate haha. Gewalt wins in the build quality/engineering category while Ditka wins the robot mode beauty pageant.

 

i just like blitzwing in general, and these are just two very different representations of him. i really like kfcs jet mode though. very g1ish

 

I'm not sure if I want both, but I am very curious about Gewalt. The tank mode is an odd design to me but not off-putting, and the jet canopy on his chest seems odd to me (as in it shouldn't be there). And yet, I find the transformations intriguing and that they figured out a way to hide the tank turret thing is rather brilliant and simple. He's got a killer jet mode as well.

 

Gewalt is fantastic, one of my favorite 3P pieces. Was never even much of a fan of Bitzwing, but DX9 did an amazing job on him. He does benefit from Reprolabels though (especially in jet mode).

 

Interesting... The jet cockpit in the chest is what I found more appealing about him IMO.

 

I don't mind the jet cockpit being there. I'm just not used to it being there if that makes any sense. Looking at it from a different perspective, it does add character to the Gewalt's robot mode. Maybe I'm over-thinking this as I'm trying to decide between Gewalt and Ditka. Both have good things to offer, but I want to choose only one of the two. I'm in no rush, and I find the posts in this thread rather interesting.

 

I absolutely love the plane mode and the bot mode is great too. Tank mode is just good enough. Good transformation and he is built like a brick shithouse (both in terms of proportions and stability in bot mode). I've never seen Ditka in person but if the slightly less toon accuracy doesn't put you off, Gewalt is a winner.
