I’m already planning on making a “super” Volcanicus using upgrade parts from both companies.

 

Ha. I think I’m stuck doing the same since I’ve got a preorder in at TFSource for PC-23. Can you even cancel a preorder? Ah, screw it. Grimlock needs his upgrade.

 

I pray they’re compatible with one another.

 

My guess would be you will be able to pick and choose to an extent. The two chest pieces might be incompatible (using the PE forearms for Grimlock and their configuration will probably make it impossible to use the DW chest/back piece, but it's hard to say definitively since we don't know exactly how everything locks in). The new PE thighs for Grimlock probably won't affect the choice of cod piece, but I suppose it's possible there are internal tabs on the cod piece that mean you can't swap back and forth with ease. The DW combiner thigh fillers should work with either cod piece. Hands, feet, sword should all be interchangeable.

 

Meanwhile, I’m also holding out hope for upsized KO Voyager Dinobots. So I’m looking at 2 sets of Dinobots and 2 sets - at least - of upgrade kits.

I don’t even like the Dinobots that much!

 

Seriously, can anybody tell me if the upgrade thighs have a hinge in them???

 

I don't think anyone can 100% sure say that the new thighs have a hinge due to there have been no updated pictures since the first ones. Taking a look at combined pic there seems to be a hinge in play, but we'll have to wait for either updated pics or the official release.

 

Well, i like volcanicus (what i have of it) very much just as is. In many ways, that hinge is the deciding factor in me spending money on this set. The rest of the parts that come with it do look really god as well. But those thighs, with a hinge, would be a big game changer for the overall working of Volcanicus.

 

everything looks to be compatible except for the chest/crotch piece since not sure how it connects from TCW and PE.

 

I like the Dreamwave hands and feet more. BUT I like PE's chest section/combiner weapon. Sooooo... looks like I'll get the Dreamwave set later.

Which in a way works, so at least PE has seperate sets for hands and feet and the other stuff in this case. Still will be a bit pricey but... if I'm gonna have Volcanicus he's going to look boss as hell, dammit!

Why would they delay this? One of I t’s main appeals is that it comes out well before the Dreamwave one but now that’s gone (and for a change that was unnecessary imo) It’s a shame.

 

I liked the red toes (I'd have gotten a second set to go with Botcon Predacus), but I get why they went this way. I think I'm going to dump my blue set preorder - unless Hasbro announces some extra box sets/exclusives, I don't think I have a team to use them

I'm grateful for the more accurate gold on the front section of the feet, but not shipping until May 30th now?????

It's so odd that a week after Transform Dream Wave shows their feet with gold toes, PE decides to do the same.

Really disappointed with PE right now.

I hope there will not be a delay on PC-23 upgrade parts.

 

Mmm I think it has less to do with Dreamwave's take as it does that everywhere that there has been discussion about this set, people have complained that the toes are red, and not gold, with very few people speaking up in defense of the red-toed version. so in PE's eyes they feel they must cater to the dominant opinion.

I mean, I would have been fine with it, I know how to paint, but a lot of people don't want to have to paint. Hence the complaints I guess?

Honestly my bigger complaint with the PE hands and feet is that they're more of the same. the PE combiner sets were a nice way to bring the parts into play with robot modes, but now they're just "oh look, more gatling gun feet" at this point.

I hope not, Volcanicus is running out of patience.

 

Bbts just changed the arrival date to May 2018 for Pc -23 so I guess it is delayed too.
