I didn't want to include Prime itself on the list because honestly, I barely remember any of it. I just remember being semi entertained by it when it was new and fresh. I do however remember Predacons Rising because it was soooooooooooooooooooooo boring.

Prime tried. It wanted to be an "ultimate" version of the Transformers story in general that boiled it down to the main archetypes and story beats. And from an objective standpoint it succeeded at that and is a good show.

But what held Prime back from truly being great was the cg art style. Yeah it looked cool, but it also cost each episode a million dollars, forcing the production crew onto a budget that held them back. This was the advantage that Animated and even G1 had: the 2d style allowed them to do more things.

Also in my opinion, CG is ugly. you can polish it and make it beqrable, but 2d will always look better to me.

It depends on the animators to be honest. I've seen shit 2D and I've seen shit CG. Like all art, it's a tool that depends solely on the animator/artist. I do tend to prefer good 2D (or at least a hybrid 2D/CG) over pure CG because of the looseness and movements that you get in really good 2D but it's not the only option (to me).

RiD15 looks loads better to me than Prime just for the reasons mentioned...the sense of movement and weight distribution, let alone the color palette.

I would watch something that looked like RiD'15 and felt like RiD'01. Eat it, other guys born in the early 80's.

    I second this.

I would like to see a return to 2D format, mainly for the reasons that you can do more because of budget, but I do feel like Transformers has had so many animes that it really should continue in that trend(or at least I’d like Takara to make one.) I also wish for a return to more serious and character driven storytelling, the liked Armada had at times.

Of course there's good cg and bad 2d, but generally I'd take good 2d over good cg any day. Its Ultimately just preference.

I can’t stand cgi robot cartoons these days. Like it doesn’t have the impressive weight and strength you feel when watching Gurren Lagann or Evangelion.

Yeah even that stuff as well. Cgi doesn’t have the same feeling as that and kind of ruins the impressive feeling of the mecha genre.

Why not? There are never enough robot anime. Give me something G1 style, maybe like Masterforce and Victory, with lots of combiners and super robots, less humans as possible and I'll be happy.

Oooh but Gobots are humans, brother-brother.

    I wouldn't hate a Gobots reboot.

Every time I see pictures of Gobots, I instantly remember why Transformers and not them is the IP that lasted more than 30 years.

Revenge of Cronos isn't half bad. most of the designs look pretty epic when drawn well.

    Absolutely.

As I've said many times on here before, lets give the East another chance at giving us a series. Either an ongoing shonen Manga in the vein of Dragon Ball or My Hero Academia with a more sci-fi setting that's illustrated and possibly written by Hayato Sakamoto, or an anime series animated by TRIGGER studios that gets a proper dub.

If their dubs are anything to go by, if we get an anime it will be some lighthearted gag filled episodic show. Because, aside from the movies and collector stuff, Transformers is still marketed towards kids in Japan too.
