Hmmmm. I'll try to catch up and finish TR, and then jump into this one. Kinda hope that Unicron's appearance leads to a new figure, but I guess that's rather out there...

 

There is a grey area that IF the U.S. series was being outsourced to a Canadian production company, then Chalk would be able to do it. But then, you'd have complications with Cullen and Nelson.

On the other hand, David Kaye lives in LA now so he's good to go if a BW Megatron were ever added to a US series.

This needs to be how the tv TF Cartoons need to be. I Love what i just saw.

 

I hate to use the "burn me twice" saying about something that is free to watch, but after how awful Combiner Wars was, then getting hyped for Titans Return looking so much better but overall sucking balls, I'm not letting some bots I really want to see animated again sucker me into thinking this will be any good. Even if its much better than Titans, it would still be pretty lame.
I think what might have given me a tinge of excitement would have been if I heard Gary Chalk's voice when Primal spoke at the end, but nope.

 

Hmm, we'll see. TR was a little better than CW, but not much. Shame we can't get these fantastic voice actors into a proper TV series, even if its still a short run one.

 

A few things I noted that piss me off
1) Victorion's arm isn't repaired or replaced. What is the point of a keeping combiner with only one arm? Is it really too hard to either give basic exposition of repairing it or,I don't know, REPLACING IT? It's not like they make a point of them being separate characters so whats the harm of a prosthetic arm? Make Windblade a replacement arm, make a toy of it, and I'd be content. We all know they have plot armor so it's not like merging the two would make them more invincible.
2) So the Dinobots can be separate from combined form... but not anyone else? I'm going to be screaming about this for hours. I know there were scenes at the start of Titans Returns but it still bothers me that they forget that these combiners can separate.
3) Devastator, Menasor, and Computron get axed. They dead.
4) "It will all be worth it" I very much doubt that Mr. Hamil. You contribution is appreciated but nothing will make this trilogy worth watching aside from critiquing it to hell and back.

 

“and the first time ever they have been united in the combiner sense ever!” Ok, I know people don’t like The Beast, but COME ON NOW!!! It may be the first time they combine in animation, but definitely not the first time ever people.

 

Coming from someone that actually likes these series for what they are, the fact that Prime dying didn't even nudge me at all speaks volumes both about how many times they've killed Optimus in a TFs series and how wooden the writing is that they got that reaction from me. Prime has died and felt at least something in the prior series (and some more than others).

But off the top of my head, he's died at least seven times across all media (and I know I'm leaving a lot out).

 

The Optimus Primal voice just isn't working for me right now. Sounds too robotic.

 

That's the only real way I would consider this trilogy truly canon , considering how bad it is. There was so much potential in this trilogy that has been sqauntered it's not even funny anymore

 

They would probably say he's a rebuilt Optimus or something stupid like that
Considering how much of G1 lore across the board has been effectively wasted in the trilogy , I doubt the writers have the creativity to use the basic principle of Beast Wars - descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons fight in the distant past due to time travel , in any satisfying way. Maybe they'll pull some stuff and say he's from Eukaris , but considering how the Council Of Worlds (it's just four guys from Cybertron and Caminus , no other colonies!) and Caminus (thats where Victorion and windblade came from , no other explanations!) were screwed up , I doubt we will get a good explanation for Primal

 

That's a shame. Between the voice not really having that warmth that's pretty much the Primal trademark, and the likely situation of no real Beast Wars lore coming into the story, it really seems like he's just a transformer model that happens to look like Primal.

 

I have a feeling that Optimus Primal, at least this version of him is going to end up being the same character as Prime. It just seems like too much of a coincidence that he just happens to show up after Prime dies. It doesn't really surprise me when he dies anymore but it would be surprising if he stayed dead.

I know the original Primal was a different character who took his name but that doesn't mean that he can't be reimagined as a rebuilt Prime after his death.

One thing I do find really odd is that Primal appears to have fur as if based on the original toy rather than the PotP version which has a vehicle mode not a gorilla. If the toy is anything to go by he shouldn't have a beast mode till he gets the Matrix.

 

Oh man I can`t wait for this ....Industrial jungle guys .....

 

I can understand why people don't like this series, but I just love it!

I'm definitely going to watch this as I watched Combiner wars and Titans Return.But the problem here is the series as a whole is pretty bad but hopefully it's not like Titans Return, when they were just showing the continuation of the battle between Trypticon and Metroplex because it was boring and very predictable in every facking episode!!!
