I want one from ollies for the novelty. Most people, I suspect, want to buy multiples of the figure at a cheaper price to turn around and sell it for the profit.

I bought mine at retail, but if I find another at Ollies I will get it for my daughter and possibly buy another for future presents for my young cousins.

Well some of us never saw Trypticon in any store at all... I kinda resigned myself to not getting one, but if I can find one at Ollies I'll be glad. And if I don't then I don't....

I generally find financial advice to be shallow if not insulting but I've had people walk up with $9 coffees and give me a hard time about retail prices on deluxes and 6-inch figures.

It's really difficult to balance my view of Hasbro. Their stock price is, somehow, very high, particularly relative to Mattel. At the same time, stores are perpetually barren, their distributor network is a miserable experience, and people act like Ollies sale price is MSRP. Where the hell is the money coming from?

I can't speak for anyone else but fifty dollars is my limit for a regular Hasbro/Takara retail classics figure.

I'd honestly pay retail for these if I found them, but when you only find them at Think Geek for 33% over MSRP, that's not a viable option. And with life stepping in the way, it also makes it more difficult to swallow a big purchase like that. This is my second chance, were I to believe this sighting was legit, which I do not.

It's legit the number on the $49.99 tags comes up on their computers as Trypticon. However one of 2 things has happened either they only got in a few and they've all went out and have sold or a few accidentally went out and corporate is holding back the rest for an upcoming ad or as I saw somewhere black Friday. Yeah that's a long ways off but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't have a warehouse somewhere that they stockpile toys throughout the year when they get good deals that they save to have a good selection then.

Ollies may be concerned about becoming the next victim of the "lol I'll wait 4 ollies" phenomenon. What's downstream from Ollies? Dollar General? Goodwill? Those flea market vendors that don't speak English?

I don't know from what all went on in this thread but we got one of these I think for about 80 bucks a while back and saved it for our 7yos birthday this last weekend and hooooly shit is it an incredible toy. Easily the best basemode Ive ever seen me, the 7yo and the 3yo just play and play and play and play with it rolling cars down the ramps, sitting up legends and TMs all over it ( especially with the 5 below source of armies of apefaces whos color looks great with Tripy, like in universe those are HIS TMs and the Overloads actually looking like little Tripticon larvae or something) ... how well its color schemes work with so many fo the recent TR and POTP Decepticons, the 5mm ports for TR/ TM Weapons and TM gun modes... even HFGs and Prime armors will stick all over it in fun ways... and that's before we even turn it into a giant space cruiser or a goddamned giant T rex / Godzilla beast robot. its so much fun. We have started running to Ollies in hopes of getting two beaters ... one for each kid so we can either keep the one we have or which ever of the ( hopefully) 3 end up surviving their young years the best. ... all we have to do is find 2 more and we would maybe pay the full 50 some have been found at for them but for sure would pay 30, 19 and the 7yo is super stoked since he is in a number aware phase that there have been 12 dollar finds. he is already talking about leaving one in each mode set up together, making a super ultimate triple base mode and having three stomp at the autobots in beast mode at once. That's where we are on this

Hey guys. I solved this mystery last Thursday (4 days after the original post here) and I posted about it on the \"Fansformers\" group over on Facebook hoping that the news would work it\'s way over here since I couldn\'t remember my linked email and password for TFW2005 but since I see that hasn\'t happened and people are still calling this guy a liar I felt compelled to re-register and put this incident to bed once and for all. It didn\'t take me long after reading through this thread initially to figure out that this Ollie\'s location had to be located close to me so I took some time off and went directly to the source last Thursday and spoke with the manager of that location only after inquiring as to why the Trypticon box had three layers of price stickers on it (I could tell in the store even before I took it up to the register that this was most likely a case of accidental price stickers). The manager was a nice lady who explained that the warehouse had accidentally sent out a shipment to them labeled as housewares and had a recommended sale price associated with the box from Ollie\'s corporate and she just followed the protocol which ended up being HQ\'s mistake. Furthermore, these weren\'t even supposed to be out on the sales floor until the holidays but they had already put them out on the floor by the time the error was discovered so they left them out. I got one myself but by the time I made it to down to that store they had already fixed the price error. So the be all end all answer here is --_No the guy (Animal Mother) was not lying.
_No you cant get a Trypticon at Ollie\'s for 12.99
_No, they are even supposed to be on the sales floor yet so please everyone, just cool your jets. I can assure you this will all make more sense by fall, later on in the year, as Ollie\'s begins to put out its Xmas inventory (and yes, I\'m aware Fort Max came out in May of 2017 and was $10 cheaper than Trypticon but I don\'t know what to tell you there).

Now I will copy and paste my original post on Fansformers over on Facebook. When I posted it I was parked at a gas station one block away from the Ollie\'s in question and had just left the store. That Ollie\'s is located in a small military town called Callaway near Tyndall Air Force Base. Just think of it as a suburb of Panama City Beach.

    Update!
Ok so for those handful of you that follow TFW2005 news threads, you may have noticed an article a few days ago telling of an individual from Tallahassee that found a Trypticon at Ollie\'s bargain outlet for Approx $12.99 which caused a ruckus in the comment thread regarding the authenticity of his claim.
Well also being a resident of Tallahassee, and knowing that we didn\'t have an Ollie\'s in town, I was bound and determined to get to the bottom of this so bare with me as I lay this all out in story fashion.
So I used the photo that the guy posted of his receipt and quickly ascertained from the 850 area code that it was the Ollie\'s located at Tyndall Air Force Base, basically a suburb of Panama City Beach. Before taking off on a wild goose chase, I first contacted my buddies in both Dothan Alabama and Gainesville FL and had them check for me at their local stores yesterday and they both came back negative for Trypticon.
So since I had to make a trip over to Panama City for a Toy\'s R Us sale anyway I decided \"F\" it, I\'m gonna drop everything and just go down there today instead of this weekend (the perks of being your own boss). Made it down here just before noon and entered the store totally expecting to be disappointed and what to my surprise..  there....at an end cap...a nice stack of Trypticon\'s four rows back from the toy section. I immediately noticed multiple stacked price stickers, forming three layers, and they were priced correctly (unfortunately) at $49.99.
So naturally I grabbed one and asked up at the check out counter why the item had been repriced so many times and they referred me to the manager standing a few feet away who gave me the official be-all-end-all answer to this mystery.

***Corporate accidentally sent the Callaway/Tyndall store a batch of these 6 months early and had also mis- labeled the box as housewares. The manager got confused and priced them originally at $5.99 and then $12.99 before realizing the mistake (which apparently happened when the guy from the original TFW2005 post inquired if this was indeed the correct price, whoops). She figured it all out finally, corrected the price and went ahead and left them on the sales floor but she also said that they were not supposed to reach other stores until Xmas of 2018. So there, everyone calm down and don\'t rush out in a panic to try and snag a 13 dollar Trypticon.
I left behind 6 so if you live or know someone that lives in Panama City or the pan handle of Florida in general then get on it if you want one early. As for me.... I\'m about to hit up Toy\'s R Us and a nearby auto junkyard and then back to Tally for me. Peace!!!

At this point, I suspect this is all a scam set in motion by Ollie himself to drive up visits to his awful, awful store.

    Sneaky old bastard ...
