The World Serpent really is a highlight of this game. God of War always did do scale well, and you can really appreciate how enormous this thing is, seeing his coils stretching out across entire mountain ranges.

I just recall all of Kratos' past encounters with giant serpents not ending so well for the serpents.

I’m honestly just at a loss for words right now, like, there’s no way that this game is this good and yet… It’s even better. This will hands-down be my game of the year, if not the generation. And I know it’s still early in the year, but this game is something else. Spider-Man will definitely be the best Spidey game I’ve ever played, dethroning WoS, but God of War is unlike anything else I’ve played in a long, long time. I need the sequel to this bloody game ASAP, because serious shit is definitely about to go down in that one.

I also love how we never actually see Odin, but the game does such a good job at explaining how much of an asshole he is, that he feels terrifying. It’s almost like I felt his presence watching us as things began to really hit the fan.

No game is perfect, but GOW is as close to a damn masterpiece as one could possibly get in a video game. I’m still not even finished with it yet, just the main story and a handful of side quests, so I’ll be diving right back in once I get off work. This is one of the rare instances where I can definitely say, believe the bloody hype, folks.

Reading everyone's posts maybe feel like running out and get the game right now!

But I just completed Yakuza 0 and Kiwami back-to-back and I'm thinking of starting on Monster Hunter next...

You should definitely pick this game, this game is flawless and will most likely be GOTY. The game looks beautiful and has some of the best graphics on the PS4. The combat feels balanced but will punish you if you start to get sloppy, the expressions and mannerisms of the characters are perfect, the voice acting is great, but the highlight for me is watching the relationship between Kratos and Atreus develop and the two characters do balance each other which is so refreshing.

Just bought this game and playing it now!

Oh man, I'm not used to the combat controls as in the layout! I keep pressuring squares and triangles, instead of R1 and R2!

Kinda frustrating as there a few times I almost won a particular fight but pressed the incorrect button!

Do you have to do anything to get the Thor dream at the end?

I just picked this up and finished chapter one. So far this is my favorite current generation game.

There will be many people in the hospital if a drinking game is made when Kratos says "Boy".

I take it I don't get my wish of having gaming's most unlikable arsehole splatted by Odin or Thor in this game?

This is a pretty great way to re-energize the series. The change in Kratos is such a welcome addition making him more human and of course having his son, Atreus.

The exploration of Norse mythology is also done well. Even in the side-quests, it all comes together. Combat is so much fun as well.

I am curious about the other gods in the game. I wonder what Odin is like compared to Zeus.
