Don't explore lore progressively into the past further than established in the first movie, unless the entire movie is a pre-planned prequel- I personally think this was the cardinal script writing sin that made a lot of the plot and feel of the movies so disjointed. Especially on the government reactions front of things.
I'd just be content with Hasbro being experimental and focusing of different figureheads for each movie. Aside from the obvious Optimus vs Megatron they could make a Wreckers vs Overlord or Thunderwing movie, Star Saber vs Deathsaurus, Shockwave vs Grimlock, etc. They wouldn't need much if any continuity and they can bring in fan favorites and newcomers to the front roster.
I would imagine if like they bring back fight scenes from the first film is Bumblebee vs barricade including Optimus Prime vs megatron, second film some what similar to the forest battle, from the third movie more backstory and car chase, fourth same as Optimus Prime vs lockdown with the humans, and from the fifth film unicron
Unnecessary explosions replaced by realistic collapse effects and building/transformer pieces being warped, dented or stripped away. Oh wait, that would cost to much...
If the Bumblebee Movie turns out to be great then I'd use that as the starting point for the series and keep it in the past. The classic cards look more interesting than brand new hot rods.
Definitely more personality into the characters and make some even better than what they turned out to be.
There's a lot to be explored, but I would like a nice gap and then a hard reboot. Also, the opening teaser most be what one of the members here described about 15 years ago (maybe more) 2 sports cars driving incredibly fast come up on a fallen log across the road, just before they hit it, they transform and jump it then transform again and keep driving. Transformers logo hits the screen. BTW, if said member is still here, please take credit
It only just occurred to me but there is someone who has been overlooked for far to long, not just by the Bayverse but by everything from RID (2000) to Cyberverse. We need to bring him back to the franchise in the films. Once about 11 years ago we ensured that however else Bay changed it Optimus Prime was voiced by Peter Cullen now we need to make sure that Optimus becomes complete once again. Pass it around, spread the word Bring Back ROLLER!
I think future films will be a lot more progressive. An improved balance of male and female Transformers, no crowbarred romances or obligatory two-dimensional love interest characters, no out of place juvenile humour or mildly offensive stereotypes and just generally better writing. The Last Knight feels like a film 5 - 10 years out of it's time in places.
