What would you do for a Transformer?

This isn't meant to sound twisted or sick, and I'm sure there's a few threads like This already but here we go. This is a two part question. First have you missed out on a Transformer that you need on-line or in store, and the only way to get it now is pay maybe twice the original price for it? Do you pay it or let it go?
Second do you take on side jobs or extra chores to afford a figure coming out?
For example. With me I'm looking at Generations thrilling 30 Swerve. At the time he was in store I had no connection to the chactor so I didn't pick him up. Now after loving him in IDW I want him for my Lost Light crew, but he's 40 plus dallors on Amazon. So I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger. Second part is I'm donating Plasma for a little extra cash to support my plastic crack habbit. Does anyone else do this?

Depends on the definition of "twice". I would pay $30 for a TLK Cogman. I would not pay $90 for PotP Rodimus Prime.
Ha ha! No. I live within my budget. But I'm also 41 years old and don't want to waste my precious time I could be spending with family or friends to instead work at Starbucks just to purchase a toy.
Do whatever you need to do. Just remember it's a toy...and I guarantee Swerve will never be worth MORE than $40. If you can stand to save $5 a week, you'd be able to buy one in two months without selling parts of your body or working yourself to death.

Nothing as extreme as I'd do for a Klondike bar, naturally.

You can find Swerve on eBay still in the box for $25.

I have a good-paying job that I like very much, and while it allows me to afford darn near everything I want, TF-wise, there's still some that sneak past me.

For example, I'm currently killing myself over not owning the Encore God Fire Convoy boxset, since that giftset has literally been my #1 Holy Grail TF for as long as I can remember. Am I getting a second job? Hell no. Am I thinking about selling plasma? Maybe a little. Usually in cases like this I only resort to selling stuff - I have some CW giftsets I could part with that should get me close, and I have some guitar pedals I can get rid of and do okay on.

But I guess that's my point, is my limit is just "selling other toys I don't want as bad as the current one". I'm terrible about impulse purchases but it's left me with some good sales/trade fodder, and I'm thinking now that Encore Fire Convoy is out it's time for me to cash in.

As I have said in other threads, here in Lima Peru, we often pay double the price (or close to it) for everything.

The import cost and local 18% flat tax leads to that.

I just pay it, as it is still the best way to get what I want.

Shit, dude. If you're going to spend that much, buy the Maketoys Swerve and Gears two pack. It's on sale somewhere and it a great set. I have the legends Gears and even though it's good, MT tops it.

I've only paid over retail for items that were long gone from store shelves by the time I became aware of them...and only then if I really REALLY wanted them.

On a related note, how much does one get paid for donating plasma??

Haha more than you might expect. Like almost $2fiddy the first time, if you do it 5x in a month. This is pretty typical for rates

You also get bonuses for referrals. This dude at work got me to go in because he wanted the bonus. Too bad it didn't work out 348s.jpg

Haha. That's a legit mp36 right there. ;)  I wouldn't mind getting payed to dick around on my phone for an hr or 2. Think it only takes 45 min but you have to wait for a machine to open up. It's a trip. Everybody looks like cattle in there. xD. I think once you're a regular it's only maybe 150 a month if you max out your visits. Shit, that's a nice tf fund right there. Especially if you hold out and save up
