Ahh, good old New Year Convoy. Always wanted one... but never got ahold of it because I had a G1 original and I wasn't gonna buy a reissue of something I already had... was my fool logic back in the day. That same logic made me choose a Reissue Ultra Magnus instead of Piss Magnus and which is harder to find today? Fool.

UW Lightspeed over CW Lightspeed any day of the week. I think by that point the Dead End mould got resused what? 8 times in CW alone?

(Combiner Wars Dead End, Combiner Wars Generation 2 Dead End, Combiner Wars Brake-Neck, Combiner Wars Generation 2 Brake-Neck, Combiner Wars Dustup, Combiner Wars Streetwise, Combiner Wars Prowl, Combiner Wars Smokescreen, Combiner Wars Lightsteed)

9 times. Not including Botcon exclusives. Or Unite Warriors. Gah. If any figure would bring on repaint fatigue... it's that one.

[IMG]IDW & Cons update by Brendan Mitchell, on Flickr

The latest reshuffle of my IDW shelf as I wanted to get Ultra Magnus and Brainstorm on there and I also moved a few things round on my Decepticon shelf and transformed Weirdwolf and Sixshot.

It's getting a bit crowded now but I still have enough room for Mech Planet Hubcap, MMC Drift and if it happens, MMC Guzzle.

After that there's not many other IDW characters I'd be after at that scale eg,
    Rotorstorm
    Pyro
    Rack 'N Ruin
    Rung

I keep looking at MMC's Tarn but he's a gateway to several more figures so I'll likely stick with Iron Factory's DJD and just have that group in Legends scale.

Just watched Pancrazi’s vid of MMC Alter Beta. This mould looks in par with recent MMC’s stuff. IDW inspiration is there, transformation seems fairly simple but effective. Range of motion is what one can expect now. Colours and face sculpt are right. Would definitely complete my IDW-LL group.

Yet I feel some « yes he’s good but not stunning » mood. Maybe because of the waiting and some (I don’t like this word but) « lazy » choices design wise (I’m looking at you cockpit) while other companies have more recently shown some magic (I’m looking at you UT Lockdown).

I don’t consider all new stuff better than what has already lived but, I don’t know, I actually feel that my LL group could totally be non transforming figs if they matched a bit better what I love from them in the comics. Well, not at the Flame Toys price, even if their bots are gorgeous.

Thanks but I have just bought myself an Mpp10 to go with megamaster which I hadn’t planned on getting (was hoping I would be satisfied with mp01 but his lack of convincing posability meant i couldn’t resist an mpp10 going for a good price in the Kapow Facebook group) so I think I have just done my tf spending for the month!

If you still have him when I get round to going back for thirds (!) then I know where to come, what did you want for him?

Well sure, but it's still the best CW mould.

    And Getaway. :p

That TLK Hot Rod, transformed it, his wing mirror was snapped off and missing. Messaged the guy, he just said "he didn't notice. Sorry." Pffft. There goes that resale value. Not even n the box so I can't glue it back on. Definetatly feel like I got a little bit of a burn on that trade now. Oh well, I got voyager sentinel and TLK Bee is nice too, and Rod is better than Lockdown. Getting con clones today, and FFeral Rex should arrive in the week. So hey, at least that's gonna be an awesome end to my collecting.

    For this year. ;)

But how is it the best CW mold when Rook exists? Answer that, if you can~

UW Lightspeed is a gorgeous figure. It’s surprising how many elements that Wheeljack mold has in common with G1 Lightspeed.

Hasbro’s Lightspeed doesn’t work for me. It’s poorly thought out, lazy and the execution is sub par.

I really like the MMC Drift mould as it's got a great robot mode and the alt mode's not bad either, the cockpit reminds me a bit of a Snowspeeder.

The non transforming, high end nature of Flame Toys figures has a lot of appeal to me but if they're only doing IDW characters it'd have to be the following,

Swerve with his bar as a display base.

I'd totally pay their asking price for that :D

If there is a complete redesign for IDW transformers going forward, will that then mean that 3rd party companies like MMC will switch to the new look, or remain with the old, knowing that over time the fan base would move on (even in part)?

Seeing Maz selling off “loads” is an interesting sight, just for the sheer volume of figures released under the TR brand between Hasbro and Takara... In the future this would be halved as they won’t be the alternatives... could that be seen as a good thing? (Especially to wallets!)

Bit of a reflecting day today after seeing others selling off items and considering what I have on display...
MT cross dimensions is now on the sell list without being opened (Thunder Manus gone already, just Rioter and Striker Manus to go). They were going with the FP headmasters next to MT Pandinus and Utopia, but decided to move the Cross dimension figures on, put IF figures with the MT giants (and FP and MT combiners) and move the FP headmasters to go else where in the room (as they are still awesome for the most part),

Okay, Chris, Sunday Life Admin day. Leave the mods and get your bed remade and do a little tidying...

    GODDAMMIT!

Ah, well. At least I did get the bed made too.
And realised I could pack the Joes-with-cards that were milling about on top of my scanner into my Phantom X-19's box to boot.

    Watching movies with old people.
My father in law decided to watch TLK. It gets to the scene where those bipedal human military drones are wandering around. "Those are from star wars!" Yeah, they are a bit like AT-STs. "And that one off that film where the man dresses up as a robot." WTF?
    "You know, the robot policeman!"
    Oh, Robocop.
    :lol

I saw the ed209 similarities instantly. I still like ed.

Decided despite the smoke smell, just gonna keep bee and hot rod. Rod will probably stay in car mode his whole life. And I'm not gonna deal with that guy again.

In all honesty yes, I think MMC and the others will switch to the new look, but it will take at least a year before we see any actual releases of that kind, simply because it takes a long time for these things to be designed and produced.

On the other hand if the new comics are deliberately going to be using designs from the new toy line then 3P companies will probably stay well away, as it's easier for Hasbro to take legal action if they can claim they are losing sales revenue to unlicensed 3P products.

I think we'll still see a couple of years on the old idw designs yet. They'll want to carry the momentum on while it's stull fresh.

Hmmm. Has anyone used febreeze on transformers? Any side affects? Thinking that could be a good way to help get rid of smell.

Hehe. Once i told my missus I'm not selling hot rod because of the mirror issue, she was disappointed. Then promptly took him and put him on her classic car collection shelf. Then put aoe lockdown (who was in car mode on the table for comparing) also on the opposite side of her car shelf. Have i said i really love my wife?
