    Aye, pal you got it.

Anyway it doesn't matter that Starscreams role in the Decepticon ranks changed because this is cooler than the same old same old haha

So you just ignoring the last 10 years of the big budget movies making character like Bumblebee who were on a break in mainstream media for like 15 years into house hold names and the face of the franchise? Seems to me you got something deep down in side you that's about a girly jet being in charged now but whatever.

Except Hasbro right now is very much cementing the versions of characters people know from the 80s and they're strongly pushing for a more G1 inspired approach so I don't see why you seem to have a problem with things having a few twists happen every now and then.

Think of it this way, she'll have more of a reason to be in the show then just to be a punchline.

Actually, well developed leading female characters are crucial to me

But not "she's the female version of a male character"

aka Slipstream, "the female starscream", according to the bio

It's actually pretty low brow if you think about it

I appreciate well thought out roles like Ripley from Alien, Sarah Connor in Terminator, who are not just a feminized version of a male character

I'd be more than happy to see Sliptstream featured prominently, but not at the expense of the criminally underused foil that is Starscream

most people in the general public still have no idea who starscream is, so it's silly to water him down like this before he's truly made his mark on the public consciousness

Starscream is criminally underused? He has been a main character in everything except the movies since armada and he was in the first three movies and referenced in the 5th. hell until recently he was in control of cybertron in the comics. Starscream is one of the four most prominent characters I. The franchise along with Optimus prime, bumblebee and megatron

Step outside of your bot-cave for a moment

ask a common person who is not a geek or a TF fan if they know who Starscream is, let alone the foundation of his character

Most people in society just barely know Optimus Prime (Da Good Guy) and Megatron (Da Bad Guy) is, and are just barely beginning to know Bumblebee (Da Cute One)

    Come on now

If people don’t know who he is it’s because they don’t care, starscream has been in every series since 2002, he’s about as far from obscure as you can get. Also, stop being so condescending and insulting. You’re making yourself look like a self righteous prick

Says the guy using curse words to refer to me?

The general public need a reason to care, and they haven't been given one

The character has been through so many inconsistent iterations, outsiders haven't been given a chance to get into these classic characters

You’re the one that started slinging insults by telling me to “get out of my boy bot cave”. That’s extremely condescending. Also, prick isn’t really a curse word. I could use curse words, but I won’t devolve this thread that far. It doesn’t matter that he keeps changing, the fact is starscream has been a prominent character in every single transformers series that have aired in America aside from 3. He is far from obscure and if you can’t see that then you are blind. If you think joe random hardly know who optimus prime is then you’re also deluded.

    *quietly eating popcorn*

The films suck when it come to charters.

Starscream is in Wave 1 in 3/4 of the size clases (the same as Bumblebee); He is not being replaced.

What, you think just because your neighbor next door is aware of Starscream's existence, he's going to magically start collecting toys? Or just because your mother knows Batman is a thing, she's going to buy the next DC comic? I honestly don't see what point you're trying to make. Characters like Starscream have appeared in countless shows, games, etc; you can't get better than that.

People are already aware of basic concepts and characters from the brand. The rest really doesn't matter. If they care enough, they'll explore the lore themselves.

Actually, yes, and that's why more people are so into comic books than ever

    Played by who?

No matter how you delude yourself, characters will always matter, and this franchise would not exist without the originals that set the foundation

True enough, there is a Starscream in most media, he's barely the same character though

The argument isn't about the character's obscurity, but consistency

As for Optimus Prime, thanks to TLK, the most noble steadfast character in all transformers history was manipulated into becoming a half-baked villain who would kill one of his own

That's hardly an Optimus "Joe Random" can get to know the consistent true character of

Or just perhaps there's a general shift in acceptance of "nerd" culture.
Isn't this going against the point you're trying to make? Let's say we have the same 5 characters appear the next 5 Transformers show. What happens next? Someone isn't going to start watching Transformers media out of nowhere. Nothing is going to change.
Yes, I agree basic foundational things matter. I haven't said anything that contradicts that. However, throwing in a new character or a new idea isn't going to break that foundation.
Transformers isn't some obscure franchise or anything. If people wanted to get into, they would have already done so. I don't see how stagnating this brand with limited variety is helping this cause.
Um, have you ever watched anything from the past decade? He has literally been the same character.

That Optimus has been in 5 movies over the course of the last decade, if your average movie goer doesn’t know who optimus is at this point then he doesn’t care. If the average movie goer is starting with movie 5 then he doesn’t care. Your arguments are pretty thin

That was achieved by making quality entertainment, like hasbro should, and will do if they want their newly created media studio to succeed

Make one quality show or movie -- people will start watching, and all will change

...unless it deliberately tries to break the foundation, like in this instance

Consistency does not equal stagnation, it in fact gives outside onlookers something to hang on to and identify.

This is brand awareness 101: the more people see Captain America/Iron Man/Thor/Hulk/Spider-man and understand their basic consistent foundational character traits, the more a non-comic-book-geek gets hyped to watch the Avengers

Unicron Trilogy Starscream and movie Starscream are worlds apart with classic Starscream, besides the fact that they transform into jets, and those have been some of the most prominent media in the last 15 years

TF: Prime and Animated Starscream were admittedly faithful versions

Now back to screwing things up, it seems
