So, if I put a baby in an incubator, the incubator is pregnant. Riiiiight.

i love the way we have these discussions as if there's some meaningful yardstick of what's realistic or ridiculous for stories about giant extraterrestrial transforming robots.

like the notion that you're willing to push your suspension of disbelief exactly this far and not one inch further is an incredible thing to behold

Incubators aren't sapient beings nor they have anatomy similar to their "payload" (sparks).

So, if I equip the incubator with an sentient ai and give it a humanoid appearance it becomes pregnant?

There are a lot of IDW original characters that I'm going to miss. I hope whatever the plans for the reboot are, we don't lose all of them.

I understand the logic, though. The books are continuity-heavy in a way that is basically impenetrable at this point. Which is extremely rewarding for longtime readers, but probably doesn't drive toy sales.

You'll have to make the incubator part of the same species with the child to achieve an analogy.

Since the child gestates the spark and Cybertronians pretty much are sparks walking around in metallic vehicles (because pretty much any other part of their bodies can be manufactured as proved by the constructed cold bots), meaning the "incubator" is a Cybertronian and the child is a Cybertronian-alien hybrid.

guys, it's a giant human baby. let's just look at it for what it is - they're introducing danny devito into the idw continuity.

I don't think it's unreasonable to understand that suspension of disbelief has some sort of limits (which will be different from person to person.) Even as a kid, I thought it was incredibly, well, dumb in the way that all the Decepticon's could just fly. It's one of the things the Marvel comics got right, I felt.

    That's M&M's you're thinking of!

this pushed me to feeling it's less ending and more that it's being put out of our misery.
(about 4 years too late for most people to care...)

i'd imagine the back catalog makes too much $ for IDW to give up the license until while they are in business,
but I'm not sure who I'd even want to run with it with how bad new comics in general are these days.

It's not meant to be a 1 to 1 representation, but it's damn similar to a pregnancy.

Just about as ridiculous as Regeneration One's plot with him activating the "evil gene" in the Autobots.

A shame all around. If I was Hasbro to I'd snatch up the writers and artists of Lost Light as they float adrift.

Absolutely the best plots and art in the history of the franchise.
