not all their releases are worth it like this tho are they? i have been collecting hot toys star wars and sideshow star wars for the last year and have around £5000 worth of figures ( would have been more but sold some and yep i'm addicted ) and can tell you most of them are the same under the clothing this tarn is a tad over priced so not disagreeing with that but to say hot toys figure are worth the money is a tad of an overstatement as most of them are not ( and again even tho i say this i'm addicted to them )
Flame Toys is still 3rd Party, albeit producing a licensed product. The 2nd party is the consumer. EDIT: There's no such thing as 4th Party...
This right here, is why I don't care for Hasbro figures anymore. I want my figures that I put on display to look like they jumped off the pages. Personally for my tastes, I'm just not interested in a budget DJD that only resembles them in name and slight nods to their comic aesthetic or colors. I don't want a fan mode just to pull off what is a critical element of who the character is. I am not interested in the abundance of budget cybertronian designs to make a representation of Tarn, Helix or Tesarus, I want IDW the way they once made Springer look like he jumped right out of last stand of the Wreckers. If Hasbro can treat their marvel properties with respect to the source material why shouldn't IDW get that sort of respect more often? My expectation? Someone runs the numbers on MTMTE or Lost Light book sales versus Marvel book sales and decide they're better off using a mix of aesthetic design to appeal to a larger crowd who may not be familiar with or care about anything IDW. I'm also aware that not every comic reader buys toys and vice versa, but data does need to come from somewhere in order to form a basis of estimate for ones business charter. Granted I also understand that Marvel and TFs is an entirely different budget and cost with significant difference in engineering design, however, that isn't what I'm debating. All this to say, Flame Toys has made exactly what I want, but unfortunately, not at a price I can justify under my spending budget in comparison to the options available for other things I collect. If Hasbro ever incorporates IDW era transformers into their Masterpiece Line, which aims at accuracy as much as possible, I will absolutely be interested.
I respect your opinion especially with this current Generations line being so hit or miss quality wise. On the flip side they knew that T30's Tailgate was crap so the gave us a better one. More proof that they know when they've dropped the ball. So I hope that Hasbro is listening in this case when it comes to quality DJD figures and other IDW and G1 figures they've yet to make. And Hasbro? Just an FYI, we don't need another d@mn Windblade or Bumblebee!
this is just slightly bigger than their drift. Is that the correct scale between both of them in the comics?
Now...if this ever manages to drop into the $250 range on clearance, or I can apply some sort of awards that take it there... I will be recreating your Avatar pic with him
Presently, no. However, with IDW Griimlock in the works over at MMC, it's wishful thinking on my end that the rest of the Scavengers are at least being discussed. Otherwise, Deadpool as the obligatory crossover troll will be my Fulcrum stand in
I gotta agree here. This Tarn is $100 more than Drift, the same size, less gear, and better hands. The price is pretty far out there.
Bottom line.. I love this Tarn. LOVE the proportions, beefyness, style, everything.. Nothing to hate on at all.... Except, and this is the deal breaker and why I cant let myself buy the Tarn fig. 1) Scale. How is he the same size as Drift for 100$ more? He should be twice the height of Drift and then, maybe. 2) included items. Not enough to justify the price. 3) Price. Living in Canada at the moment, with taxes, this Toy will be roughly $543.70 in BC Canada. Huh!? That is like 3 PG kits. You could buy a masterpiece anything. PG Falcon, U could buy the ENTIRE Gravity Builder set from GenToy for less, or almost ANY 2 other combiners for example. I love Flame toys but they and Hasbro need to check themselves here. I feel like this is going to sell about 50% less than it should based on pricing fans right out of collecting. Why raise the price on a very similar figure to Drift? That said. Again, if he was bigger, I would consider the buy. As it stands..no chance at this size for that price. Assuming the same for Star Saber. Hoping on Prime.
http://www.d4toys.com/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=705 When ordered directly from the D4toys store, Tarn comes with an additional faceplate (that's clean with no battle scars), and a pair of sound boosters. However, the shipping cost is seriously out of whack.
I didn't know about those extras..I REALLY love and want this Tarn.. very cool!!.. Still not quite the level of add ons as Drift for the price increase though. It seems his hands actually move?, unlike Drift. That is kinda tight, but again.. just too much $ for the size. Especially when you add shipping. I hear ya on shipping... killed on shipping here. Judging from that D4 link, If it had to be shipped here, it would be a roughly $650 figure with tax and shipping all in! ( BC Canada) Holy "Find Kill and Cleanse" my wallet!
Jesus Christ it’s a thing of frigging beauty. Selling stuff atm. We will see if I can get the funds together.
Jeez-Louise this thing looks amazing. Man, I wish my MMC toy had this kind of expressive posability and boy do I wish it had hands that look like this one. I love the look and it it looks like a ton of fun, but holy crap, I don't buy toys that expensive. Not saying it aint worth it - I believe it is - but still a "will admire from a distance" item for me.
Im waiting on some sort of free shipping promotion from the Flame Toys booth like they did with Drift. $77 to ship is nuts!
