I honestly don't see the aesthetics being much better this time around, BUT the first one, along with the rest of the line from my experience, did have really brittle plastic.

The team that worked on the originals wasn't the main Transformers design team; hence so many crappy shellformers and cheap plastic.

It's for fans who want Star Wars Transformers, like me. These new Transformers have the kind of look I wanted in the earlier line. There were certain design tendencies about the old Star Wars-formers I just couldn't stand .

Personally, I'm seeing a big difference between the old Star Wars/Transformer line and the new one.

Which is why I only got the Han/Chewie/Falcon and the Death Star/Vader. It was really annoying that as a Star Wars and Transformers fan I found most of the old Star Wars Transformers toyline so unappealing. I'd be looking at regular Transformers and Star Wars ones and wonder why the f*** they seemed so different. I didn't find out about Takara's non-involvement until later.

Now I want Takara to have a shot at Marvel Transformers, as well. Those could be awesome.

I said that I don't think they look much better, which is my opinion. The robots still have giant bits of kibble and odd proportions. Now, the plastic quality was really bad with the first line. I had 3- the Falcon duo, X-wing Luke, and Deathstar Vader, and Luke and the falcon duo had pieces snap during normal transformation. I do, however, think Vader was actually really good in general. Anyways, I assume these will have better plastic, but I still don't think they have appealing bot modes.

How and why is this inferior to the ORIGINAL Darth Vader/TIE Advanced Transformer? SMH

I get that the aesthetics are different but they're not better... on either of the toys we've been show thus far. I expected WAY more from Takara, given that the original SWTFs were designed in-house by Hasbro and we always assumed that was why most of them kind of sucked.

I'm sure these will be better built, with better transformations, hardware, etc. But if they're not actually better-looking... so what?

Not having any need for the Millenium Falcon, but this gerwalk mode might convince me to get the Tie Advanced. This is how I wanted all SW/TF crossovers to look.

Not a big fan of these and the Marvel ones. If you like them, good.  I remeber the last time they did these and they shelf-warmed in all the stores.  I\'m glad that Hasbro is thinking out of the box, but this just dilutes these franchises.  My hard earned money is gonna get gouged elsewhere.  ;-)

gaw these things look cool. ill probably pass on vader but i think ill be splurging for that Han/Chewie. The Falcon was my favorite SWTF the first time around and this one looks to be even better <3

I see that theyre repeating the same massive failure in creativity. This would make for a natural sci fi crossover, but instead we have human pilots driving machines made in their own likeness, not immortal alien mechanoid badasses. We can have Skeletor boardwiping the justice league and Hellboy in Injustice 2, but we still cannot have Transformers in the Star Wars galaxy.

You do realize a proper crossover between these two massive franchises would be a legal nightmare, right?

Not to mention the last time we got Transformer-styled Star Wars toys the vast majority of them were complete garbage. The new TIE Advanced/Vader TF is already leagues better than the original version.

Sweet Primus, that is quite terrible looking. That chest flap kills it.

I just dug out the original figure to try and convince myself that I don't need the new one.

Massive fail. Hilariously proportioned Mech mode, obvious robot kibble and pins in its wing-wobbly Alt mode. Looks like what it is, a toy Tie-Fighter that turns into a toy Vader. The new one has a far superior Alt mode and a Mech mode that actually looks like a plausible pilot-able Mecha, in-universe at least. There's no way I can imagine Vader actually using the first one in battle.

I'm still waffling at bit whether I should get the Falcon, but I'm definitely getting Vader.

The new one is definitely better in many ways, but that price tag is a bit difficult to swallow.

Ugh, yes, that would have been a great idea. I was actually planning on getting one of these to try to headmasterize it so i could put Megatron's head on but I can't afford it right now.
