When I was there a couple weeks ago one employee was telling me this location does well and they don’t think they will be affected by the close outs. Only time will tell. It’ll be interesting if this ends up being one of the 200 left over.
TRU has been profitable as a company for several years I believe. Good sales have nothing to do with it.
Well it might play a factor into deciding which stores could be saved in those rumored potential sales of the Canadian TRU and the top 200 or so performing stores in the U.S. Only time will tell. In the meantime, no point checking out TRU as nothing new will be arriving and the liquidation is on hold.
This. I was in the Springfield TRU yesterday. Nothing at all I would want Transformers wise and they won’t be getting new product in. Was thinking about a Voltron set but of the three different ones they had, each was missing at least one of the lions.
Blackout is the one I’m missing. I’ve thought about it many times, but never pulled the trigger and now it’s far too late to find a decent price. FYI, no TLK at the WM in Belton or Greenwood.
Do we know for sure that TRU won't be getting any new product in? Isn't it possible there's still stuff in warehouses that might get shipped to the stores to clearance out?
It depends on if the courts rule for them to return inventory. Toy companies were protesting their liquidation. The transformers section at fairview was pretty stripped already except for start screams and primus.
IIRC, they are protesting that if the merchandise is sold through liquidation, they are far enough down the list of creditors that they won't see a penny. They want their goods returned.
Yes, more product will probably be shipped into stores, but it's just going to be the warehouses emptying out of old product and nothing actually new. There is a possibility of some long lost old Transformers or exclusives showing up, though, you never know what may have been lost in the warehouses all of these years. But honestly don't get your hopes up as my bet is most of it will be a lot of unsold Babies R Us/Kids R Us crap.
Walgreens on The rock road (the one across from the true value) had the new battalion Sideswipe, which left with me. Nothing else new there.
TRU started the sale. I went to check it out. It'll be a while till its worth it. Items I saw on clearance for a while were back up to normal price. The junk in the front is 20-30% the rest of the store is 5-10% making much if it MSRP currently or tax free at the best. The store was already pretty messy and quite a few things were bought even at those prices. I am curious what will be left once the real discounts kick in. EDIT: One thing I noticed for example. There little cube robot was on sale for $150 a week ago. Now its $170 and 5% off. So you have to price shop while you are there.
Not Transformers but apparently Target's are putting Voltron toys on clearance, including the new 84 versions. However, the Target in Edwardsville only marked down the die cast 5 pack from $69.99 to $35 and some change. Figured it was the best way to get one for myself. I'm pretty happy with it. I told the wife it was coming with me to work and she thought I was joking.
Found some wave 2 deludes at the Target on Mexico Road in St Charles. 2x rippersnapper 1x Sludge 1x Snarl I left them all. Hopefully this means Target will start getting more wave 2 (expessually the prime masters).
Snagged a battalion Shockwave today at the Walgreens by the mall in Jefferson City. Only other one they had was a Jetfire. Also had Titans return Krok and a Blurr.
Target in Liberty got a case of Wave 2 Deluxes in. Still 2 Sludges, 1 Snarl, 1 Moonracer, and 1 Rippersnapper left.
