They weren't. It's just because the parts are similar, but I'm fairly certain Gipsy was designed quite independently from Master Chief, both the figure and movie model. Also, well, ones a model kit and one isn't.
Man these figures are getting me pretty excited! Going to see if I can get a Gypsy Avenger on sale at TRU, bit I am loving the posability available in the Bandai line. While Raijin is very basically articulated, she looks super good in the shelf!
Got some Zilla food as part of a sympathy TRU purchase over the weekend. Pretty good figures and will be fun desk toys to add to my office collection.
The next wave of Robots Spirits looks nice. I still need to finish up the first wave. Titan Redeemer and Scrapper photos incoming!
Looks like we had the same idea on who to match up with these figures! Of course, you outdid me with much more thought out pictures compared to my random desk shot.
Finally had time to take some pictures! Incoming photo dump... These next three pics were edited: It's amazing just how good this guy is. The accessories are really nice, paint is fantastic, and poseability is insane. Definitely worth $20 bucks.
Love seeing everyone's photos! I only have Titan Redeemer at the moment as I'm still waiting for the other 5 to arrive. I don't have any Kaijus for them to fight though...
I've currently got 5 of the 6 Damashii's with Guardian Bravo on the way and I've noticed there's a lot of shared parts across them, no doubt done for cost savings. Pretty much any part molded in grey seems to be shared with a few exceptions like the shoulder pad connectors for Gipsy and Bracer and Bracer's knees.
Yup. It's pretty minimal, but they all share hips, wrist and ankle barbells, elbows, and necks. I also noticed almost all the hands are patterned on Gipsy Danger, but are new moulds. Apparently the ILM Models just reuse assets.
A photo dump centered around Bracer Phoenix: So, I only found this guy and Gypsy Avenger at the TRU that I bought them at. Out of the two, Gypsy's my favorite. Considering he's $10 less that Phoenix, Bracer feels like an afterthought. Now, there's nothing generally wrong with him, but it doesn't feel like he should be $10 more. He has few and small accessories, smaller than Gypsy, and has less poseability. Granted, I'm shocked that these figures are ONLY $20-$30, because all the other Robot Spirits are expensive as all hell. I do enjoy this guy, I really do, but man, the fact that he was $10 more just keeps nagging me. If I were to ignore that, he's an awesome figure. He's very different from Gypsy (ironic considering how the posts above show how they share pieces), and has a pretty nice looking design in my opinion. Am I going to get the rest? Hell yeah!!! I just feel like Bracer doesn't do enough to justify the price mark up. Also, doesn't he have a big ass mace/ball/chain weapon in the film? Where's that at? (I love how asymmetrical he is on the left side. Also, I know they aren't in the pics, but the guns are actually pretty cool accessories.) Also, I heard there were seven jeagers, yet I've only seen four in the trailers. I'm not missing something, am I? And all seven will get figures right? Also, I REALLY hope they go back and do the first films cast with Robot Spirits.
Worked on Gipsy for a bit tonight. just a little snap and glue work on the torso. In order to use the LED module I have to be able to remove the back plate so i didn't glue it down. Working on the reactor core, I went ahead and used my black line accent on top of the layered brown and gray. It looks just about right. cleaned up the surface and left mostly the deep lines dark. held it up against a flashlight, so I know the light shines through just fine. Speaking of, the fun part of this kit will be wiping the surface of the armor, I used Line accent with a broad brush so it got a grimy look that I'll clean up without getting too pristine. Just a dry fit for a moment but so far I like how this looks. Not to get too far ahead of myself but so far so good. Bandai did right by making High Grade models. Now to tempt myself into more work, I'm going to paint the pistons with gold and silver. I'll do more touches in other areas the further I go. Once the movie comes out and I get to study it on the big screen.
I mean, it's in the trailers. Awww man. I just realised the version I have preordered isn't metallic. Where'd you get yours, because I don't think HLJ even had a preorder up?
