So, I don't know if there's an individual thread for the Universal unit kits, but I figured I'd show my two latest Gundam purchases:
She is finished! Gunpla #219! My first official Gold Frame! -- Couple of the extra details of red paint I added to the head.
Spent a good deal of a morning sorting out my spares, junkers and parts, in a effort to get back into building Gunpla. I've just snapped together a few HGBF kits in the last couple of years, but the last time my airbrush was used was about 3 years ago, and I've decided that I need to hack away at my backlog of kits that I've stocked up. Anyways, found a few spare parts in my bin that I have no idea what kit they come from; I kind of want to sort them with the rest of the extras from those kits. So I could use a little help, if you guys can figure it out. Top Left and Top Right: white PS plastic; at first glance I assumed they were flight stand adapters. Based on the plastic thickness and sharpness, my first guess is that they come from the 00-era of kits. Lower Left: It's not clear in the pic, but it's some sort of minus-mold or rifle-scope-cap or something. It's actually in a light-grey PS plastic, which made me think that it came from the MG Strike Noir; but the part is #5, and that doesn't match any #5 on the MG Strike Noir's sprues. Lower Right: 2x part #24 and 2x part #23. *EDIT* Never mind, I found out that these come from the MG Gundam RX-78-2 OYW.
At a loss about those parts, and I'm surfing through dalong.net for anything. Those white parts are throwing me off, feel like I'd seen it before but not seeing it in any high grade kits. -- Bored. Can't sleep so I was juggling between kits and tinkering. Sharpie on a Trans-Am A new eye for a Zaku? Not much room to work. And installed a search eye, finally.
Experts, please, I need your help. What is one to do when they need a replacement for a broken piece, but BlueFin isn't for some reason or another (i.e. No receipt)? I need a couple parts for my HG Schwartzritter.
Sadly we're kind of SOL on a reliable parts department anymore. last time I tried Gentai, I got the notice they weren't taking more parts orders. I did find this place, but haven't tried it yet: About
Nearing the end of March, so I don't know if I should expect Gentei to send me my Zaku Cannon this week or after April starts.
Today, on "Designs I love from shows I don't care much about" Got it at Barnes and Noble, so hooray for coupons! So much better than Hobbytown's ridiculous price.
Tallgeese is on my far off round to it list, but I'd repaint it in TV colors. right now I'm waiting for Bandai to murder my wallet by announcing the RG Tallgeese II as an exclusive just because I prefer that one. Speaking of Wing today, my tinkering last night included me chipping the paint on the Search Eye for the RG Wing EW, luckily I applied so many coats (3 or more?) that it didn't turn the part transparent again, so a few strategic drops of Pledge fixed that! See where the lamp reflects.
From what I know, they're essentially tiny model kits. I've got quite a few, and I found those two in the pics at a TRU. If you want to see what they look like, I can take a pic of them later. I'll have to find the other ones I have already, as well as build these. Also, you can try and search "Universal Unit Gundams", and you can see what other models they have. They're really cool, and surprisingly solid. These, in my opinion, are the type of figures to buy if you actually want to play with them.
I went to a GameStop that had a surprising amount of Gunpla kits. Mainly MGs, which is strange considering I doubt they would move there. Stranger still, they were almost all Endless Waltz MGs. Wing, Death Sycthe Hell, you name it. I was interested in the Shenlong but not 45 dollar interested. Wait are these EW kits new?
Relatively so. They're a few years old at this point. Tellingly, they have ABS inner frames (well, the Gundams do. Tallgeese came a bit later), as opposed to the total polystyrene construction of more recent years. They're not as old as the OVA/Movie, if that's what you're asking. They're sturdy, modern kits compared to the floppy crap that was produced around that time. Unfortunately, the models actually accurate to the OVA are Tamashii exclusives. What you've seen are likely the mass-release versions of the Gundams, which are Katoki's re-imaginings of the Gundams from the TV series, still branded as Endless Waltz due to a tie-in marketing campaign with a new manga and other things.
So did these come before or after the Supernova Altron 3P? I do like that dragon gimmick the green suits do.
They would have come out before that. The Supernova kit is a modified KO of the MG Shenlong. It looks like it mostly reuses Bandai's inner frame, but with newly designed armour to go over it.
Well then. I have never heard of this mobile suit until now but boy do i want to get this. P bandai of course.
I saw this... I WANT THIS! It's like a combination of the Gm Sniper II and the GM Sniper Custom as a sort of GM Striker... wow. - if you'll excuse me.. I'll be over at the Pacific Rim toy thread.. Pacific Rim Toy Discussion
