That's another 3D printed custom. A year names Jabberwock on thingiverse had made a ton of GI Joe models for tabletop gaming. I've downloaded a bunch of them and am tweaking them to be more like the toys instead of game pieces. On the SNAKE, I made the arms movable and the weapons detachable.

Yup. The Diaclone stuff, now that the human figures have decent articulation, is giving me exactly what I want in an action figure line. They're small enough that you can have a massive diorama in a relatively small space. My only issue with them is that they don't have any individual characters. In fact, that just shows how brilliant Hasbro was in taking the original line and turning it into Transformers.

The Diaclone stuff is great, visually. But there is no real story to it, no characters. Even with the story Takara gave it (and thanks again for the link, Suntzu), it's just a generic outline for what the stuff is about. That might sell to some kids or collectors, but for mass appeal, there has to be something to make that personal connection. That's why I'm wanting to be able to get enough little guys in this scale to make them distinctive and individual.

Regarding the Diaclone Reboot fiction....

I believe the addition of a fleshed out story in manga/comic , 2D anime (oh GOD please) or DVD film (2 or 3D) could take Diaclone to Robotech or Votoms level IP if the media was released consistently. All of the prerequisite identifiable sci fi accoutrements that make a sci fi franchise successful are in this line.

 

We've seen one with their Omega Supreme, so maybe we'll get one bundled with that:
