Oh awesome! I really liked his art in Infiltration/Escalation, waaaay back at the very beginning of the IDW-verse all those years ago. He and Don kind of established the "look" of IDW TFs with their modernized neo-G1 designs.

Nice to see him back on the series, possibly for one of the final arcs! Kind of brings the whole universe full circle.

I love E. J. Su's art. Why was he absent from the Transformers series for so long?

I do wish, however, that what we're getting is the type of E. J. Su art from the first few years of IDW. Clean designs that nevertheless had complex (but not necessarily complicated) detail that looked physically plausible. I loved that look from Day 1, I've loved it ever since, and I miss it.

I wouldn't say I ever disliked any of his Transformer artwork, but I thought his later style wasted his talents. Off the top of my head, Spotlight: Prowl and at least 1 issue of the Mike Costa series also had E. J. Su, and his style was unrecognizable from what it used to be. It was a cartoony style similar to Geoff Senior or Mike Mignola, with very simple details and no more of the mechanically-plausible look.

Checked my copy of Lost Light 13, and the design is different. But, it may be E.J Su's design for him.

Agree 100%. So much better than the movie-verse styles or Don's hybrid take on it.

Good artist, and that series was pretty good. I'm not usually into retconned stuff but I gave it a shot and was pleasantly surprised.

It's so cool to see an artist make a comeback, especially a talent like E J Su.

I know for a while he worked on designing Voltron for one of the shows (Not the Netflix one the one before that)

I spoke to him a few years ago and he said that due to having a young family he could not devote the time to doing interiors for IDW. That's why he took a step back

Obviously his kids are older now so maybe he feels he can come back even in the short-term.

Great to see Su back - one of the top rank tf artists to my mind. The colours on those early ‘ations’ was a bit hit and miss (of it’s time over gradients as I remember), so excited to see what he’ll be like with Josh’s (he’s colouring lost light right? I’m a bit behind) great colour work.

Hell yeah, he\'s one of the best modern TF artists next to Guidi, Milne and Zama. Now if we only could have some more Casey Coller goodness as well...

I miss Don Figueroa personally but from what I understand he’s done with TF’s. But I miss the Staypuff marshmallow formers art from the Dreamwave era.
