Interesting slight colour changes on those Onslaught / Hotspot KOs.

 

So. Picked up one of the KO voyager WfC Optimus Primes from a Chinese eBay seller. It's in good condition, but it smells strongly of gasoline.

Any ideas as to why, and maybe what to do to kill that smell off?

 

Okay, now I'm really curious to know what Kubian means, if anything. Especially considering KBB is KuBianBao (or so I thought). Unfortunately, google's translate from Chinese to English isn't helping me out by just typing it in.

Do they really mean "Pants Side" and/or "Pants Bag"? I understand that could be a 'literal' meaning, but what might their better translation be?

Dudes, you have to at least use the right Chinese characters!
It's 酷变宝 in simplified, and 酷變寶 in traditional -- pronounced kùbiànbǎo.
not pants 裤子 or 褲子 kùzi
nor bitter 苦 kǔ
no side 边 or 邊 biān
no bag or pocket 包 bāo
not to explode 爆 bào
Chinese is packed full of homonyms, with the same tone as well. This is why using romanization only to write Chinese is unintelligible.
酷变宝（酷變寶）: 酷 is cool (loanword);
变（變）is change into/transform [appears in the name Transformers 变形金刚（變形金剛）biàn xíng jīn gāng];
宝（寶）is treasure

 

KuBianBao literally means "Cool Transformation Treasure"

 

If you have an android device, download the Google Translate app. Using the photo translation you can highlight the text that you want and thus grab the correct characters to be translated. Of course, it's hit and miss, and you might need to squint to make sure the suggested character matches the character on the logo/image/text; but at least it helps. Kinda.

kù biàn means (in this context) 'Cool Change'... You know like it says in English on the logo in the top right corner of the packet.

I'll be really keen to know if they are all the usual size or not as soon as anyone finds out for sure.
regardless I would really love to see Overscale KO Combaticons show up soon that would be a delightful surprise.

I see these CW KOs and it makes me wish there were more 1:1 good quality KOs of the CW figures that came in different colors like how that OS Rook got that blue redeco.

With PotP Starscream out I could use some jets to combine with him. You’d think someone would see the opportunity to KO the UW Starscream in various Seeker colors.

I hear ya, so while there is the option of the G2 CW aerialbot set (for extra, colorful jet limbs), there's also the option of commissioning that type of work. Your comment reminds me of what that Kickstarter was doing w/ the OS KO Hotspot for Fire Convoy (@KOnceptArt) where custom paint jobs was an option (or level) for that effort. I recall seeing some pretty nice suggestions from others (I don't think I'm that creative, so seeing options that could/would be made available would be a more persuasive incentive for me to dive in on more than I'd get otherwise)

Depending on how handy you are with customizing, and if you're not too stuck on "good quality" KOs, you could pick up the various sets of 6 limely/lively colored. You'd have to customize them to allow for combiner feet and hands to attach. If memory serves me right, each set of 6 was ~15bucks prior to shipping on SirToys.

I was asked by a very nice gentleman to do a shot of him and his girlfriend and Bumblebee for her birthday. Never did one of these for someone else but I'm happy to have done it for them.

But they are both Power Robot who is trained in the useof a;ost any weapon.




Quite hard to get into gun mode, there is a fiddly bit of transformation required on the right arm that had me worried that something would break.

 

What? Is that Bumbletron and Optimized Panzer?
