I'll have to watch a video in how they are in combined mode and if it can be reversed. In the cartoon & comic the top of Swindle was in the front, in which case the wheels were in the back. I've never seen it w/ the wheels in the front. It's all a matter of opinion, but I'm def. going for cartoon accuracy and that leg just looks weird to me lol. I’m so angry that the combiner looks so beautiful yet vortex is utter trash. I really want this set, I truly do, but I value all components that make a whole and I don’t value him.

 

I was thinking of getting these guys. What's wrong with Vortex?

Considering I asked, yeah, I'd say I am. Heaven forbid I didn't follow the thread from announcement and only recently decided to get either these guys or the Unique Toys ones. Thanks for the informative response.

Here’s what I mean by vortex

 

As a figure he functions quite well
The robot design just isnt that great

 

Ok good but it’s executed horribly, the panels folded upon panels everywhere and an altmode that isn’t right

 

The alt mode looks beautiful, its just not what hes supposed to be

 

He's a bit of a mess, true. But he'll likely be in arm mode for all eternity anyway once the lot are out.

 

It all depends on your personal taste, really, and how much G1 accuracy means to you. As a figure he's great, accomplishes all three modes well. His helicopter mode is beautiful, but as previously mentioned not G1 at all. The same goes for his bot mode, it's nice and reasonably well articulated considering how much kibble he has, but not very G1 outside of maybe his head sculpt. If you're okay with "chugster-piece" aesthetics he's great.

 

So I got Zeta Brawl yesterday. I guess I hadn't been paying attention to pics comparing the two sets side by side (and to be fair, I guess Brawl is the first one out in both sets) , but when I had heard Zeta Bruticus was gonna be bigger than UT's, I thought it was because of the partsforming thighs, I didn't realize the figures were also slightly bigger:


Like with Swindle, UT Brawl's robot mode is more in line with the comic/cartoon, while Zeta is going for the original toy look. In any case, as people have said earlier in this thread, while the "working" treads were an interesting concept, in practice they are a PITA. Trying to stuff the extra tread length into the lower legs sucks! You can't tell from the pic, but one leg's set of treads is looser than the others. I'm not sure what I did on the other leg, but I spent like half an hour trying to stuff the treads all the way in and still couldn't get them to match.

Still, his tank mode does blow away UT's IMO:


He's just bigger and beefier, whereas UT Brawl is a tank for like halflings or something. Not just compared to Zeta Brawl, but his own squadmate in Swindle.

 

Yeah you right the parts forming isn’t just making ZetaToys Bruticus bigger its the members being big, it’s awesome. But what I like also about these ZetaToys combaticons is there alt modes are all so clean!

UT Swindle would look good alongside Zeta Brawl in alt mode for those considering mixing and matching

 

Guys I know people have stylistic choices but they needed to be executed well. Blast off is better off but vortex is disproportionate and lazy. Every thing gets in the way.

 

Are used it but it’s still a bitch to get them to stowaway. Even if you lock it getting them to fit in that front compartment is a pain in the ass.

 

Absolutely... no question about that... its impossible to place the exactly like the instruction shows us... unless we could open up the side panel, I dont think there'll ever be an easy way to set them perfectly other than sheer amazing luck lol
