Is it odd to find it burdensome to transform MP transformers?

I remember when I first started collecting MPs. Sideswipe, Starscream, Prowl all seemed really difficult to transform. Could never get anything lined up correctly. Surprised I never broke anything...Now those guys seem so simple and easy. Practice helps and the new MPs being more complicated makes the older ones seem easier.

Out of all my collection, I now only need instructions for Megatron V2 and some of my 3Ps (Apache, Brawny, possibly Andras).

Also rarely bother with youtube videos to figure out the transform. Those TT MP instructions are damn good, even if they are in Japanese. You just need to follow every picture exactly as indicated and you can't go wrong.

I totally understand your point of view. In some cases MP transformations can be too fiddly, infuriating, terrifying an basically not much fun. You find may others using the term 'involved' to describe this, which may be their preference but for me transformations can be surprising or intricate but at the same time should be intuitive, forgiving of user error and not take you longer than 5 minutes. There are some that achieve a good balance between complexity and intuitiveness and those are often my favourites, MP-10 and Bumblebee spring to mind as good examples, but some that fall well below that standard and infuriate me a little as I have no desire to transform them as its just too much of a ball ache (looking at you Megatron).

That said it really depends what the focus of your collection is, and what aspects you enjoy most. I like to be able to pick them up from time to time and transform than back and forth, repose them and put them back on the shelf and am more likely to do that with some of the 'easier' ones. However the main reason I collect MP's over other lines like CHUG is they look amazing. They represent the characters I love so much better than any other representations and that for me is top of my needs as far as collecting goes.

The only one that I can confidently transform in under 15 minutes is the MP-03 and MP-11 seeker mold. Everything else, even some of the cars, I consult instructions since I haven't transformed them quite the same number of times.

Recent CHUG figures seem far too simple/lazy anymore. So MP all the way

That's why I gave up on MP years ago. I used to enjoy the involved transformation. But when you get past a few hundred figures, transformations kind of blend together or you forget steps here and there. When you forget a step on an MP, stress marks and scuffs get expensive. I'd much rather do that with a $12 toy than and $80+ toy.

Wow dudes. This is a very sad thread indeed. If I didn’t enjoy transforming without instructions then I would collect gijoes or other action figures. I love my mp. The more complex the better. Love those wow moments

Hrm... Sort of. I only own Primal and Cheetor. The former's no trouble, barring some especially small spaces I have some difficulty reaching into/my nails are too weak. Cheetor's a different sort of beast, and I'm always a bit worried I'm going to crack something on him.

MP Inferno/Artfire and Grapple are very fun transformations. Sunstreaker's is pretty satisfying too.

The part that I don’t like is figuring out certain steps in the instruction manual when it shows you to move a certain part but in reality it doesn’t just move that easily. You have to maneuver certain parts first. This is especially the case with Sunstreaker and Megatron I found.

There are plenty of people who prefer very quick transformations, so no, you're not odd.

I don't mind a longer transformation, so long as it is intuitive - something that is subjective.

Personally, I love MP transformations, and pretty much all of Takara's MPs. The third party world is very hit-or-miss for my tastes.

The biggest stuff I don't like is when two pieces need to slide past each other in a difficult way, or a small area is just over-complicated.

I dunno man. I personally love to sit down and take the time to transform one of my MP figures. It really relaxes me.
My favorite transformations are Megatron, Ratchet and Inferno. Smooth, well thought out and full of those magical Masterpiece moments.

But hey, to each their own. Good thing there's options! :)

I have a good sized MP collection and I transform them all the time - it's fun as shit. Not transforming them is like have an expensive sports car but you never take it for a ride, but to each his own blah blah blah. Only one that takes me more than 15 minutes and I refer to the instructions for is MP-36 Megatron. My son has a lot of CHUGs and I actually find most MPs just as easy or easier and definitely more satisfying to change.

I own a handful of Masterpiece. A few of them aren't too bad to transform. Grimlock, MP10 OP and, surprisingly, Delta Magnus are fairly intuitive. But they don't see MUCH action, thanks to the fact I don't want to accidently break something on them. The same can be said of my transforming Soul of Chogokin figures.

I agree that cost and fun factor is what drives me primarily to CHUG.

It's not a burden and I can probably transform them all back and forth in under 15 minutes. I am an adult.

I generally enjoy the challenge. I approach it as a puzzle. Like a Rubick's cube.

Except the first MP Megatron. That will forever remain in gun mode.

The fact you are transforming a toy kind of negates the "adult" insinuation.

    That's a huge reason I don't collect MP's
    Not fun in my opinion,
(To be fair though my first 2 mps were Megatron , the first version and roidmus )

and I would want anyone to touch them (kids) because I'd be afraid they would break them

What are you talking about? Adults play with toys all the time. I am pretty sure that is why this forum exists. There was nothing insinuated. I plainly stated that I am an adult.

I’m an adult who collects transforming toys.

Actually, I buy masterpieces for their aesthetic and especially for the more difficult transformation. I enjoy the process because it’s a brain exercise and helps me keep my mind moving and spunky. Sure I don’t like MP36 transformation and MP9 sucks due to the breakage, but MP39 has been a damn joy due to his complexity but still rewarding to fiddle with when you go back and forth between those points.

I view masterpieces as puzzles and always collected transformers since I was a child. To grow up is a trap, but I work hard in my job to afford my joys.

So yea, puzzles help keep the mind going and these are splendid puzzle figures that I love.

I am always nervous the first time transforming a MP figure but after the first few times I usually get the hang of it. MP Sunstreaker though I am having a hard time with getting the backpack to sit correct in robot mode.
