Wow.  Same here. I'm glad that the pictures had an influence on you. But the only thing I wish could've been better was the colors of Allen(like Apache), but otherwise he is amazing!

I LOVE this guy, and I'll tell you why (boom chicka chicka bow!)
After all the Masterpieces and 3rd party "Artworks" where you feel you need to hold your breath while you hold the toy...it's nice to have a toy that feels like a toy.
Allen is big, thick, chunky...and just so...TOY-ISH.
It's hard to explain if you've never had him in-hand, but he has this "je ne sais quoi" quality that gives me a toygasm.

All 3 modes are big, chunky, and fun to play with...not to mention as a mean average more accurate than anyone else's offerings...sure FAAAaaaaanstoys might have those nifty fingers, but the cockpit (in EVERY mode) is way to small, the wings got shrunk, the colors don't always match up from one panel to the next, etc.

Its funny how people always talk about Fans Toys, or whatnot, but no one mentions Unique Toys (which, IMO, is one of the best 3P out there:

-this guy.
-Sworder was a great figure, and to this day still the ONLY available option for a MP G1 Sandstorm.
-Provider blows KFC's half-ass attempt out of the water, even WITH an articulated cab/trailer combo.
-They named their Sharkticons set after the 3 main character roles in Jaws. I mean, C'MON, RIGHT?! (i bought 3 sets for troop-building)
-Peru Kill....'nuff said.
-their Blurr was excellently done, AND he came with Metroplex's T-cog, which I immediately handed over to my (their) Swindle, cuz, you know, that one episode.
-Speaking of whom, Gahzzy is now one of my fav figures (Swindle will always have a special place in my heart), and the Combaticons are my favorite combiner team, and the ULTRA G1-iness of this set is AMAZEBAWLS.

All of that. And when I add the Palm Series figures and almost everything DX9 has put out its a highly consistent catalogue of robotoyjoy that, for my tastes, no other company has quite been able to match.

 

Is there a way to make his dark green much darker without the effects of paint coming off through consecutive transformation?

You can blend the paint with the clearcoat of your choice... usually helps it form a nice shell... but of course, nothing will come close to being able to take the toy apart, paint all the pieces and bake them like a car.

Just wondering, do the painted thighs, hands, and face really make a huge difference in the whole look for Allen? I'm thinking of doing the same to mine

Absolutely. Adding even just a hint pale green to his grey parts makes him look like v2

It's this kind of paint, but like a beige or creamy tan sort of color. Hope this helps
