Finished Countdown last night. Mostly. I still need to paint his radar array, but otherwise he's complete, reassembled, and stickered up. I used a PotP Beachcomber, Testors metallic silver, metallic gold, and Standox water-based auto paint red. I removed his rollcage, because a moon buggy doesn't have one. I kept the original Beachcomer head instead of modding a new one, partially because Countdown has a blue face. I opted to paint the visor gold, for the Aviator Shades look as an homage to the solar shields on spacesuits. Reprolabels: 2 Outline Symbols on the underside of his arms and a raised symbol on his chest - the smallest one fits perfectly.
Dude, WOW. This looks really good. The mold works well for a Countdown! Where is that radar array from?
stated mine LOL going to ad some gold paint and another shade of red high lights n still looking for a round radar dish i know i have a extra one for a g2 stalker ill paint it up gold as well
Last time I was so impressed seeing Countdown was when I won his rocket base in the Marvel UK comic as a kid. Excellent work!!
Great job. But... Is that me or your way to paint the head makes it looks like the Gobot Road Ranger ? Is it intentionnal ? http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zsPdJ4_eD...gca58/s1600/machine+robo+11.avi_000847413.jpg
base coats of paint for a gold over lat on visor an will be adding some gray to helmet make it more my own color creation give it more a lunar rover with gold foils/solar panelig n such
It's a decent little mold. Not a lot of repaint value, but Countdown is definitely worth having as a modern Legends-class. I've been planning this since I found out Beachcomber was going to be released. Sounds good I'm sticking with silver to make the visor stand out more - plus, G1 Countdown was all grey and red - I skipped the white. I've already got serious plans for one. Good luck with yours Thank you It's definitely worth it, and a super-easy custom. If you're good with sculpting and not in a rush, try shaving off the chest sculpt and molding a new one Thank you Not intentional. I just didn't want to fart around making a new head, and when I thought of the fact that all original Astronauts were Air Force pilots, the aviator shades just stuck with me. Looking good
