It's time to air out all the mistakes we've made when it comes to this fandom! Maybe you were acting smug about information only to mix up Unicron's name with Unicorn. Maybe you passed up a really good deal because you didn't realize what it was and now curse yourself. Maybe you proclaimed something would be the next huge thing and then had to eat humble pie when it turned out it sucked.

This is a chance to admit your sins and faults and laugh about it.

I'll start with two of mine:

    1) Once in a thread discussing alt molds and what we'd like to see I stated "Why have they never done a car carrier mode? Seriously? It makes so much sense"

    ...completely forgetting about Ultra Magnus.

    I OWN an Ultra Magnus.

    2) Years ago I was at a Toys R Us and saw they had on clearance a Grimlock figure for 20 bucks (he had a beat up box) and I was like "Meh, why would I need that. I have the Classic version"

...not realizing until a few months later (I had just gotten back into the fandom) that I'd passed up on Masterpiece Grimlock. Yeah.

One mistake that I’ll always regret was it must’ve been late 99 or early 2000s, I walked into a large variety store in a Brooklyn neighborhood that must have either bought out a few other small ones or Cleaned out their basement for things

On the shelves they had a few G1 transformers from micro master bases And a misb trypticon

Since I wasn’t collecting at the time I let it go then a week later I decided to take a look at what they were going for on eBay I rushed back to that store and of course it was gone

There are a few things that I find to be some pretty big mistakes whence coming to the fandom.

I cannot count how many super valuable toys that I would come to want that I passed up. I passed up on WFC Megatron and Soundwave three times. Could have gotten both for $8 plus tax because of a sale. There are still plenty toys I don't regret passing on from that time, however. I also near totally ignored a FOC Kickback one time because there weren't any other Insecticons.

There were a few misconceptions that I had while out of the loop. I've always been a fan, but there were points that without the internet and any real interest in the art style where I assumed Animated was a movie tie in with a dramatically altered look for the kiddos. The timing was also a factor, and for some reason they decided to point out that particular cartoon was animated so I got lost for a little. Caught on after watching the show.

Edit: Good God, I forgot one of my biggest blunders. I saw a ROTF Lockdown at DD's Discounts and passed on it. If only I had known how much the character would grow on me. Regret passing on a $3 Legion Flamewar too.

One night I was drunk and saw a $100 Ebay listing for TFCC Runabout and Runamuck. Which, granted, I really wanted. I don't remember my rationale for bidding, but I doubt I thought I'd actually win.

That was a hell of a thing to wake up to. I do like having a token Club item, and they are great, so maybe not a mistake, but it felt staggering at the time.

One dumb mistake that I will always remember was not jumping on the Korean RID 1.0 release of Brave Maximus when BBTS had them on sale for $99.99 about 15 or so years ago.

One other mistake was buying the Henkei exclusive releases of Classics Thrust and Dirge. I thought it would be cheaper than buying the Botcon versions. Paid $200 for the pair at BBTS. I was pissed when Hasbro announced the regular releases of both figures later on.

I kind of regret selling my G1 combiner teams (Bruticus, Superion, Menasor), Omega Supreme (complete and in the box!) and some of the Alternators I used to have. I don't miss a lot of the bots I sold...but those are were a few I wish I had kept.

Two really. 1.Not buying a MISB Targetmaster HotRod before the price sky-rocketed, had a few chances but never pulled the trigger. 2. Found an unopened G2 Laser Optimus Prime on clearance at Kaybee (remember them?) for $10 and about 5 years after it stopped being a regular release and passed it by.

Worst was when I just got into collecting. My grocery store actually had a really, really good toy section with deluxe universe figures. While I did grab some great ones - Thundercracker, Wheeljack, FoC Soundwave, I passed on Blurr, Drift, and Thunderwing. I regret that now.

    I have a lot...

    1) Picking up Voyager Sentinel over Leader Sentinel.
    2) Picking up voyager Optimus over Voyager Skyhammer
    3) Picking up PCC Double Clutch over RoTF Leader Jetfire, Prime, Superion, and Bruticus.
    4) Skipping most of the Universe and Classics figures
    5) Skipping most of the Movie 1 figures
    6) Not buying any of the Cybertron figures back then
    7) Skipping on the First Edition figures, not realizing they would be really good

Giving away my entire* original G1 collection to my feral nephews back in the early 2000’s. Nothing remains of it today.

    1. Skipping on the Prime First Editions because I had DOTM Bumblebee and Optimus Prime.

    2. Buying an RID2015 Starscream without realizing it had two right hands and one of the arm blasters won't go in all the way. Granted, there's no way I could have known about the latter, but the former was an embarrassing oversight.

It wasn’t huge, but there was some good stuff. Off the top of my head:

    Trypticon
    Galvatron
    Shockwave
    Jetfire
    Thrust
    Dirge
    Starscream
    Red Alert
    Onslaught
    Bonecrusher
    Hook
    Scavenger
    Sureshot
    Soundwave
    Buzzsaw
    Megatron
    Blitzwing
    Astrotrain
    Bombshell
    Shrapnel
    Tracks

All in good, complete condition, except Soundwave, Buzzsaw, and Tracks. Not the biggest and best, but it’s sad to think of their ignominious fate.
