I would venture to say that given the already low readership at current, the fraction of people that would leave the comics over this issue won't be significant enough of a dent, and *maybe* they gain a new reader or two. Really they don't have much to lose with pissing off the existing fanbase, as the existing fanbase isn't enough to keep the books alive anyway.

The best part of this quote is the words "former editor". You know it's going to be bad when not only do you blame it on management, but on a guy who's since LEFT the company.

Prime said it best in (Marvel) issue #3, "our deaths are not like theirs." Very rarely do we take comic book or superhero deaths seriously, even less with Transformers. And after they fucked up big time with Optimus in The Movie, and the hoops they jumped through to bring him back TWICE. It's really hard to take TF deaths as permanent. Probably Pipes and Dinobot were the best done deaths, and permanent.

This strikes me as a cheap trick and I'm sure Kup will be back someday. (Besides he exists in two timelines already anyway)

And random prediction: Wheeljack will be revealed to be,,,, GANDOLF the Grey!

Well my LCS had kept this aside for me so I picked it up.

I liked the presentation of the issue with the "shiney," cover. I'll probably read it now to see what Unicron stuff there will be in it there and to see who else gets cheaply killed off.

Well screw you all. I liked it - except for the Kup bit, that looked like they were trying to drum up interest in the back story of the universe. Which is all this was about.

Still its a driver for the Darkling Lords to forge forwards and keep up the attack and save/expand New Prysmos. Kus death will enrage Ironhide and cause conflict with the Spectral Knights. Im liking the story... but not much has gappened so far..

I mean, if someone were to submit an idea for a Transformers vs. My Little Pony comic, they wouldn't be able to do so because it would be classed as accepting a fan idea.

So someone should submit such an idea, just to stop IDW from doing it.

That's not how it works at all. They can not accept unsolicited ideas; that doesn't mean that your spec script stops them from ever pursuing that concept themselves.

I still haven’t read this as my local comic book shop seemed to never get a copy.

I avoided this thread but still managed to get spoiled by a certain death as people was discussing it in the lost light thread without spoiler tags which I’m not that upset by as I wasn’t that invested in him anyway but when I do get around to it the lack of surprise might damage my enjoyment and suspense in this issue.

I posted here primarily to ask a question, is this issue good enough to justify me going to the effort of tracking the issue down online? when you answer bear in mind that I have no knowledge, nostalgia or emotional investment in the visionaries so I don’t mind if it’s not 100% faithful to the source material and am more interested in whether it’s an enjoyable read with great storytelling. I remember seeing the preview of it and thinking the art was ok by idw standards and I was wondering if it was good or meh idw. Thanks in advance for any replies

Its a solid start to a miniseries. Unfortunately the ending kinda overshadows all the good parts of the book.

I’d recommend starting a pull list at your LCS so that you don’t miss the books. It also is one of the best ways to help your store know exactly how many copies to order.

IDW puts stuff on sale on Comixology very often. If you're mildly interested, but not that bothered, wait a few months, and get the back issues for cheap when they inevitably go on sale.

Thanks for the reply and I will try and give it a go at the first opportunity. If the ending is the death that people on these forums have done a spoiler for me I don’t tend to mind sudden deaths of characters in terms of storytelling especially if I wasn’t expecting it as I’m lover of shows like the wire and game of thrones which tends to unexpectedly troll characters we had been tricked into thinking was significant.

I can only realistically get to my comic book shop once a week so I already have that order thing to get them to keep me copies on one side but this seemed to not emerge at all. It could have been lost in all the calamity over Christmas and New Years or it could be as I asked them to no longer keep me copies of Optimus Prime as I dropped that a few months ago and they got confused and cancelled my other orders.

I love how these obviously hostile invaders get a pass, but the Ammonites, nah, their whole race gets exterminated instantly... and frankly I'd have much preferred to have a Mini-Con faction in these comics because that is actually related to Transformers, unlike Visionaries. Why can't IDW just start these comics as separate mini-series and develop them like that? Oh yeah, because they would not sell well (or at all) that way, they need the crutch of a successful comic series.

Ummm... that's not how any of this works. TONS of fanfic crossovers exist, I myself read a parody X-Files/Transformers crossover made by none other than the (in)famous Ratbat Urac Sigma sometime in the late nineties, that did not stop IDW from actually making such a crossover decades later. Sending ideas in fan mail to IDW would not have changed anything, they are getting probably thousands of mails a day and deleting most of them unread.

To be fair, last time he "died" it was also in a crossover nobody cared about... Infestation.

I finally got this book, and I won't go over the Kup thing again, but I will say, aside from that? It's solid stuff. The characters are recognizable, I got a sense of their players pretty fast. It felt like I missed some prior story with them (a bit of purposeful In Media Res I think), but I was up to speed in no-time. The Visionaries aren't just another group of humans, they have their own factions, personalities, they themselves are trying to get up to speed on how magic and cybertronians mix, and the art? The art was great.

In terms of tie-ins, I think this one and ROM are the only two that strike me as really working.

I can't believe Mags Visaggio murdered her grandfather and then tried to excuse herself by saying, "well, my boss wanted me to, what was I supposed to do, quit my job?".

    Which ones?

Leoric neither looks or acts like he did in the old cartoon/comic and Cindarr (the dumb brute with a soft heart) is some sort of intellectual in this incarnation.
