Volcanicus comparison.jpg I decided to post a comparison for those interested. PE is set up to do a fantastic job with Volcanicus! Can't wait for Sludge and Snarl!

    Thanks for the comparison.

This really doesn’t do much to fix my concerns of long, lanky legs and gorilla arms. That said, if it offers improvements on Grimlock as it seems to, I’m all in.

IMG_4119.JPG Until someone comes up with a fanmode that fixes that shoulder problem, I will be going with a Call of the Primitives combiner. Good match on the red and gold, not so much on the Blue, but I like how they fit together.

Since "Volcanicus" is listed in the voice credits for Machinima's POTP cartoon, we're going to be treated to Hasbro's official "wide shoulders" Volcanicus getting screen time! So the combiner everyone loves to hate will officially be cannon in media other than the toy instructions and one piece of artwork!

(I actually like the Hasbro setup for Volcanicus, so this makes me happy.)

I agree, been thinking the same for a while. I plan on just color matching them & painting them that metallic gray & doing the toes / knuckle spikes in gold. Should make the torso look much better

I really like how the new PE torso makes the dino head more sunken into, and part of the chest now... and not like Volcanicus has a bad case of T-Rex head tumor without it :thumb

It also looks like PE is hedging their bets with the mold in anticipation of a Dinoking and Monstructor set.

It's actually not; it only looks that way because of the posing. You can get that look even with the default set up. (although, you need to shave off that little piece of red plastic to allow it to fold back and up more)

You can see in the PE photo, he is bending over at the waist, and has his knees bent. This creates the illusion of his head being sunken in, and looking upwards. Great pose. It's possible with the figure as is, like I said.

The stock photo has him upright in both his waist, and legs...creating that peanut atop a hill look.

I'll post a photo of mine showing this off when I get home later this afternoon.

Problem with the PE kit is that with the bulkier torso and bigger feet the combiner head looks too small. Still, overall look is better than the official version.

So is that the official transformation of Sludge as a leg? With his neck and head extending out unfortunately?

So like I was saying earlier...you can definitely achieve that same sunken in look with the default set up if you just pose it by bending the knees and hips; as the PE photo has done. The default photo has him standing completely erect giving him the extra peanut head look. I also shaved down the little red nub on the neck assembly so I can push the head back into the cavity at a sliiiiiiight angle; giving a better angle with this pose.

The angle of how the head is seen isn't what I was talking about. Look at how the head is still sticking up above the chest and isn't flush with it because of the neck. The dino neck sits within the PE torso and as a result, the dino head sits flush with the chest.

The dino head still sticks out in front of the chest without the new PE torso.

Basically, the rest of the chest also sticks out forward too and not just the dino head.

    Thanks man.

Really brings it all together nicely. Just doing the side "rib" ones now too....a bit more silvery for those.
