I recently made a joke about Transformers vs My Little Pony in a previous post.

But then I started thinking, what if IDW seriously does that?

Would it be a cutesy feel-good crossover with a happy ending, or a black comedy where the Transformers kill all the ponies by accident and its treated as a joke?

Would it be the old G1 version of mlp or the new FIM version?

How the hell would this crossover go down? I bet there would be some "secret history" bs at the least.

Actually, and I’m saying this without joking...I watched MLP with my daughter and the origin of the ponies re: Nightmare Moon is Primus vs Unicron but with female ponies instead of vaguely male robots. If they do any “secret history” it would probably tie in since they seem to have ripped it off.

(As another side note she is insistent that Unicron is secretly an MLP because if you switch the r and the o in his name...)

 

Any TF/MLP crossover would be a humorous take on the franchises that would be its own separate thing, unconnected to any other series.

Honestly the worlds are way too incompatible, from tone to terminology....

I mean where would the conflict come from, Twilight Sparkle could lay a Phase Sixer flat any day

 

Half of the ponies would be reimagined as morally gray sociopaths. Because why to not to? Edgy! Inventive! Gritty! Unconventional! Also, they'd be redesigned in a Mad Max style.

 

MLP fandom is way ahead of you there.

Considering how Transformers are usually depicted as super easy to kill in crossovers (hell, that's a problem they have in their own continuities) and considering how that current good guy roaster FiM has but are not limited too: two winged unicorns that can move the sun and moon, a reality warper, an overpowered winged unicorn whose talent is magic, her student who able to do all that while still a unicorn, and basically the pony equivalent of merlin on their side. Oh, and rules magic in the show are broken as hell. So yeah, unless they go for the predictable route of "lol ponies suck" ala "lol gobots suck", Transformers are gonna have a hard time.

 

No. Just no.   The two are so incompatible in genre, art style and tone, it just couldn't work.

 

On second thought, if it was a Rescue Bots and FiM crossover I can see it working.

 

I wouldn't mind a short little thing by Scioli just following up what happened to Megs in TFvsJoe just for fun.

 

RARITY RULES

 

Since MLP is less violent and war-glorifying than TF I don't know if it can work. But that said...

I would love to see a continuation of this plot point. I want Megatron and Fluttershy to be buds!

 

I don't think an official crossover would serve either fanbase particularly well. Maybe it would be fun under the right hands and the right premise, but that's a lot of pounding square pegs into round holes.

 

Don't forget we got a tf angry birds crosssover.

So anything is possible   

 

If we're talking with the current IDW series then heavens no. But if they do it in a silly childlike way like what G.I Joe and Transfomers Crossover book did it a while back then it could happen.
