Agreed. IMO the packaging is really weak in terms of information and cross sells this time around.

 

No duocons or bots in IDW. Bartletrap has only been in backgrounds and Flywheels was a triple changer.

True. I've had the Maketoys Rearend figure for so long I forgot they made that Generations version.

 

Found them, and we have seen them. Although apparently, they're not really the same thing as the Duocons.

I love the Generations treatment for all these Classic characters but I'm also chomping at the bit for more brand new "G1" characters.

 

Well, Wave 1 of POTP came sooner than we thought. The only thing shelf warming are TR Wave 2 & 3 deluxes along with TR Voyager Megatron's OP's and those irritating Bayformers.

It's possible that we'll start seeing wave 2 of Legends POTP figurs pop up in the US around mid Feb in a couple area's (thus p!ssing off people who still having seen wave 1's yet) but most won't probably get these till Mid March or Early April.

The next big event I'm waiting for is NY's Toy fare in Feb. And I'll just put money and X-mas gift cards to the side in the mean time.

They all look great. What I’m not getting is the sudden “the REAL Tailgate!” responses. The new toy looks really nice, but what did G1 Tailgate ever do with any significance prior to IDW? I can’t remember, did people complain about Generations Skids being so IDW? Because outside of one comic, he didn’t do shit either.

Anyway, all of them will be bought.

 

Can't wait for these to hit the U.S., they all look great. I wish the helicopter was a little grey-er, or that Tailgate got a chest remold. But Tailgate looks so much better than the T-30 IDW mold that was so spindly and kibble-y. Not sure why Hasbro was so insistent on not revealing these, maybe they are still bitter about the big leak from a few months ago.

As for making Duocons into Autobots, they could go a lot of ways with the helicopter - maybe homaging Energon Bulkhead/Quickstrike or MW Sandstorm. Not sure who they would make the jeep into, maybe Cybertron Overhaul or some micro-master? If we get a Flywheels update, the tank could be Guzzle (since he was done in a recent movie line they might still have the name), I guess the jet could be triggerbot Dogfight.

Man, that's awesome! The Legends class figures are kicking the deluxe, voyager and leader class figures in this line so far.

 

Still loving this, but the back view makes me wish that his helicopter blade was in two parts that could fold up to be completely on his back.

Maybe Nonnef or someone on Shapeways can help us out there...

 

I love it! Making the Duocons two separate minibots that combine to the bigger G1 namesakes also takes care of the once-goofy mechanic. Stronger together, but still able to function separately.

They look pretty good in all modes, too.

Hope Flywheels comes out soon after..  and heck, even if it\'s not a Combiner... Maybe more of these dudes in the form of the Landcross Multiforce characters, all of whom were two smaller bots usually combined in a Duo when not merged as Landcross itself.

 

these two look so good...they hit just the right mark. i hope this paves the way for flywheels and then just for fun RiD skyhammer get himself a proper articulated introduction to the chug universe....then shocknado cuz why not

The duocons look horrible in robot mode. Especially Battleslash. He looks like he needs to lay off the energon goodies.

 

Yes. He was G1 Tailgate. I have no
affiliation to any of these characters outside of G1 animation (including Japanese series) and toys. I have no idea what IDW Tailgate has done of importance other than look so displeasing in design that I wouldn’t touch it.

 

LOL. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't had a similar thought.

 

My favorite bit is how the head of Roadtrap works as the waist joint of Battletrap. That's a really clever way of doing top-to-bottom combiners while keeping full articulation. (Hint Hint HasTak--this could be the start of an eventual Landcross).
