The original Pet Sematary movie is actually pretty accurate to the book given that the screenplay was written by Stephen King, himself. There are some differences, of course, most notably the exclusion of Jud's wife who has a heart attack in the book. But, for the most part, the first film is a pretty faithful adaption of the novel. The sequel, however, is another story.
Even though the original back in the day scared me to my core, I do want to see this at some point. If Steven King likes it, it must be good.
Wait, so teh BD coming out next month isn't the Director's Cut? God dammit, I hate when they do that shit! Why would anyone want to waste money buying it next month when they know a double dip is coming?
The director’s cut is where everyone finds out they actually did film the child orgy scene... Nah, just kidding
And when did he say these things? When the movies or show had just come out, or years after when it didn't matter anymore?
He has always said he disliked The Shining right from the getgo. He did not like anything Kubrick did right from the moment he casted Jack Nicholson (although I do agree with King on that one).
Pretty much since the release of the movie, he still hates it btw and thats why he made his own film version in 1997
Ok, but did he actually come out and say he hated The Shining back when it came out, or was it years later? Judging from a few articles from a quick Google search, it looks like it was years later. He's not going to openly come out and bash one of his adaptations before or just after it's released. He's gonna want people to go see it regardless of whether he likes it or not. Who knows? In 10-15 years, if he's still around, he may admit he hated this remake as well. FYI: I'm not saying this movie was crap. I love it, and will probably be one of those suckers who can't wait for the director's cut and buy both versions.
It took some searching, but the King quote about Kubrick used in that article "a man who thinks too much and feels too little” is from a Playboy article in 1983. Three years after The Shining was released.
I fail to see your point. It's irrelevant when he said. It's his material and if he feels that a live-action take on something he created is good, then I feel it's worth checking out.
It’s also worth noting that King loved the Dark Tower movie that came out this year so much he sent a letter to director praising it. Honestly, that movie was ok at best.
