Oh of course that has a snowball's chance in Hell of happening and with Bay around? That sounded nearly impossible. However, this universe is progressing in a new direction if we are to take these comments into consideration, starting with the Bumblebee film which gives us a film in the 80s where Bee has a Volkswagen alt mode and from the sounds of it is aiming to be different from the other films but will still feel it's in the same universe. With that in mind? There's now a sliver of hope which isn't that much but it's there and the thing is? They can't just do standalone films on specific characters forever and they can't follow the same plot as this forever. They need to delve into some different stories to stay alive in a market that's being dominated by Marvel, Star Wars and many more blockbusters and a film set on Cybertron with no humans is something that people have expressed an interest in and is one of those unique ideas that really they have to at least consider.

Zero. Chance.

The only people that have expressed an interest in it are Transformers fans. Hollywood views the Transformers as non-characters, and truly believe that the HUMANS are the center of the movie-verse. There is no chance, ZERO, that there will ever be a Cybertron focused film in the live action franchise. Anyone truly believing it's even a slim sliver of possibility has, somewhere along the line, lost the thread.

Now, hiring new directors may allow for better characterization of individual Transformers, but that won't be a decision handed down from the management behind the films. And it certainly doesn't mean they'll throw out the concept that these films must be centered on Earth with a mostly human cast where Transformers play background.

Travis Knight is probably a great candidate to build real characters out of Transformers. The only real question is if he'll be allowed to do so.

But the idea of getting a Cybertron focused, non human-based movie in live action? Nope. Never. And I say that as someone that doesn't usually believe in hard and fast rules. Unless we see the entirety of Hollywood give up on it's current track, this concept is an impossibility.

 

Obviously that will also have to be a case but that doesn't matter. A Cybertron-centric film in this live-action universe would still be nice.

I think he will be. We have to keep in mind, The Last Knight didn't do very well. Not only did it not do very well but it cost Paramount in a number of areas and in a world where there are far more blockbusters that can crush while also having a good story and characters compared to Transformers? I think they can kind of see the problem which is why we're getting news on how this will take the franchise in a new direction and it's why the word reboot is being thrown around. They realize this franchise needs to change in order to survive. I don't think a Cybertron movie is an impossibility. It's extremely unlikely that it will happen but I'm simply expressing as a fan of this franchise who was burned hard by TLK that's a film I want to see because honestly? I don't think they can keep making standalone films about random characters and that's one that again, I've heard requests for and considering the popularity of things like the Aligned continuity which was kickstarted by WFC and FOC, the comics and even the recent cartoons when they have focused more on Cybertron? That's something I feel is a possible route and while you can think that's impossible? For me, I'm an optimist and in this day and age where franchises have been revived and dreams are coming true? Something like this I can't push aside, especially since it wasn't too long ago we got news that one of the ideas the writers room came up with was a prequel film set on Cybertron, meaning that the concept was at least brought up which tells me that they know that the idea of continuously making films based on random characters is going to get tiring.

Also, Hollywood sees these characters as non-characters? That is a needlessly jaded view of the industry. It's not wrong but I don't think it's exactly right either. Hasbro has already shown a willingness to get more involved with the films and will fight certain decisions. Also, I'd say that was more accurate back then but now with this news that's coming out? It's becoming rather clear that TLK burned Paramount and that they want this next one to do well. My only real concern is if they'll pull what they pulled with TLK and will basically be cutting the film down regardless of how important certain scenes are to ruin it and make it into a certain length to appease critics who let's be honest are not the target audience for these popcorn films.
