    Yeah, since it's a chain, not all of them will be the same size or offer the same variety of stuff. We've seen our fair share of small hole-in-the-wall Tsutayas here and there. My wife is the diehard Tsutaya fan and she actively goes out of our way to go to the fancier ones around Tokyo and elsewhere. :D  Ginza is on another level of ritzy though, lol. We didn't buy anything from there even if she wanted to (she's saving up her yennies for a moped scooter).

    Very cool! The only one that I really liked was the one at shibuya crossing. I went to a dvd release event there. Usually I would go to HMV or Tower for promos, but Tsutaya is way better for rentals and used bargains.

    Honestly, they lasted much longer than rental shops in the US, but we're seeing the first signs that Tsutaya is on the way out now. The local branch recently fired 90% of their staff and installed self serve checkout stands. You even unlock your own dvd security cases. And they're doing the thing where you can order online and have dvds sent to you. These are the exact same desperation moves Blockbuster made in the final 3 years of being run out of business by Netflix. And not coincidentally, Japan finally got Netflix 2 years ago.

    Anyway, I finally rented TLK and entered the contest. Odds are unbelievably slim, but here's hoping.
