Was a very quick conversation several months (almost a year) ago, basic gist was as I said that they agreed to make a single version of Trypticon. I honestly didn't think it was true so I didn't even mention it at the time. It was only when the reports of Takara Trypticon being the same came in that I realized she was right.

But no, she didn't say anything about the Takara one being better, just that they agreed to make the same design with no differences.

Welp. This right here shows how scared shitless Hasbro are with Takara's perceived and sometimes " superior" made and released toys. It also confirms my suspicions that Takara's hand was really forced by Hasbro to directly import the unchanged POTP stuff as is into the Japanese market. Tsk.

I don't think there is any evil plan behind this. Probably they simply figured that the two versions would be very similar and so it made sense saving the money.

That's my takeaway too. Although I do wonder if this will be true for this year's Titan too? Possibly they have agreed that for the Titans they just need to do one solid release for the world rather than do a Hasbro run, change the plastic and do a Takara run. Maybe the numbers just don't support alternatives.

It didn't seem to stop them adding target masters to Titans return so I don't think we're in too bad a situation :)

No I don't think its doom and gloom that some people think. Takara are by and large a lot more expensive anyway so picking up the Hasbro ones make more sense economically.

I'm also of the opinion that Hasbro isn't always inferior to takara either. Sometimes Hasbro do a better job. After what happened with trypticon I wasn't really expecting potp to be radically different and sadly for some of you i was right.

But true is that Hasbro version is considerable cheaper. Really doubt they were afraid about a ton of unsold Hasbro Trypticon in favor of the Takara one.

Plus, the times in which Takara offered a better product are in the past, a long time ago. Particularly, I have no interest in paying more than the double in Takara version , it is actually hard to pay Hasbro price because of all the issues of the figure.

Hasbro should be afraid about a ton of unsold Trypticons not because of Takara but because of the quality issues.

    Question:
I need to replace the springs in the hips of mine because I loosened them up too much and now his legs sorta flop around. Has a proper replacement one been identified?

So, I just found a Legend Trypticon for a very good price, but I'm still scared from the qc problems. There are news on that front? Are the latest batches of this figure safer, or it's still a lottery?

Maz had a thread for serial or batch numbers but he hasn't been around much since he got told for advertising TFsource too hard. Go to the search and lookup subject "Trypticon serial" or "Trypticon batch" by poster Maz. I'd do it and post a link but it's a pain on a phone.
