Well, you all have good points. I am just having a hard time understanding how this all works. I’ll just have to keep looking.

 

Long story short, I am sorry if it seems like I am angry or being impatient as that was not my intention. I know now that I am not the only one who is having this problem with the Potp line.

 

Keep in mind this is Wave 1 we’re talking about here. These figures will still be on the pegs six months from now.

Yeah my experience trying to find PotP figures has been garbage also. The employees at my stores have either brushed me off with something about waiting for a reset to flat out just refusing to pull anything from the back. Seems lot a lot of stores have actually put figures on the shelf while others haven't. In short, I think there's no real firm story, just a lot of confusion and stores doing what they feel like doing.

I went to the BloNo Target and talked to a manager and gave him the DCPI # for the PotP deluxes so he could bring them out from the back. He told me that a customer came in here eariler today asking for the same thing and said that they were expecting to do a reset within the next 1-2 weeks and that they should be on the shelves by then.


On a side note, is there any information regarding whether or not the PotP line will be a cheaper at Walmart that anyone knows about.

 

Walgreens in Elgin on Larkin and Lyle has the Clone 2-pack on the shelves in the toy area. 3 left as of 3 PM today.

Spoiler: TLDR: Bureaucracy is the problem

This is what I've pieced together from similar complaints: the new PotP toys differ from past toys because of the NEW DPCI. Target maps everything on their shelves by this DPCI. Unfortunately, they did not clearance out the old DPCI from the TR line, right? They're still there, full price. Well, Target stores will not put TWO DPCI items on the same peg, and they certainly don't have extra shelving to temporarily throw up, right?

So the issue is a brand new item (new DPCI), but no shelf space for the new item.

The early sightings for the PotP toys failed to mention getting them from boxes in the back: so it's possible that some stores (i.e. in CA) just threw the new PotP toys on the same pegs as the TR toys. Either they were being practical (i.e. made a human judgment), or they were being lazy (i.e. ignored a Target protocol NOT to shelf the new DPCI). Don't know.

But this whole mess is a bureaucratic issue within Target, having to do with how they run their business (and how they stock ALL items). Target stores typically redo shelving (i.e. adding new product) during specific times of the year (called RESETS).

Most Targets are currently flying in a hold pattern, waiting for their calendar reset, before putting the toys on shelves. Some stores are still willing to sell you the toys (when you give them the DPCI and an employee pulls them from the back), but this is YMMV. If you've been shot down at one store, you can either try a different store, or try a different employee. Or you can wait for the reset.

More bureaucracy! Why doesn't Target sell me toys in the back?
As a former employee, I can tell you that Target typically has a policy of NOT pulling toys from the back, when the shelves are already stocked, because of collectors wiping out all the rare pieces (i.e. Hot Wheels or whatnot).

So some stores may be confusing this policy with the current situation (also how they may be telling you a "street date" when they really mean their reset date). Just be nice, and look for a new employee - I made the n00b mistake of pulling an entire Hot Wheels box for a customer to look through on my first or second day on the job!  

 

I have a feeling target put their own stickers on boxes. When I gave the guy the DCPI, he said there was no street date in the system but when the girl went to pull them, it was on the box. I bet target slapped stickers or a stamp on boxes. But that’s just a guess

 

That might be something new. There haven't been any stickers on the two boxes I have seen so far.

The Walgreens on Schaumburg Rd and Plum Grove Rd had 2 sets of the Clones. This was around noon today.

 

Hey all, haven't posted here in a while, but I found a good number of the clones and knew it's a hot commodity. The Walgreens at Dundee/Schoenbeck Rd. in Wheeling had 5 of them yesterday evening. Not sure about now, but figured it'd be worth checking.

Found a set of Clones today by my local Walgreens and was able to use the 25% off online coupon. Also found the last set of POTP Legends at Niles Target the other day with bogo. Also did a price adjust for the POTP deluxes I found a week earlier at the same location. Hit a couple local Ross’s last week and found all the TLK Walmart exclusive Legions and Turbo Changer 2 packs.

 

I hit 3 Walgreens' today and finally found the Clones at the last one. The manager had to go get them from the back though.

 

There was one (1) set of clones at the Freeport Wlagreens yesterday... bought it up.
