    No more Optimus Ginrai... :banghead:

I'm not sure if this release is a good idea. On the one hand, it's Optimus, so let's print money! On the other hand, this toy does nothing to make MT stand out from the rest of the pack.

Every time I see an Optimus release from any company, I see a company afraid to take risks and do something special. :(

It's a concept, and they're still playing with it

Meanwhile, we have no info that this has leapfrogged some other, non-optimus related release, so your sadness is... misplaced

I mean at TFCON they just showed us galvatron and jetfire

We have seen designs in various forms of all sorts of stuff

Calling make toys a company afraid to take risks is hilarious when this line's seekers ARE WEARING DINOBOT CORPSES AS ARMOR

Let's wait to see what the next couple releases are before whining about the lack of creativity

I will probably get a version of this for Thunder Erebus. It seems like there are enough people complaining about the god bomber not transforming into a bot and Thunder Erebus not having armor that they decided to make this. I personally would rather have them devote the resources to other characters, but I'll take it.

Yup, not to mention so far MT is the only 3rd party company making the transformable God Bomber now.

:lol  Money is the classic answer. Anyways, I'm glad MT is doing a standalone Godbomber. I just wish this was what we were getting in the first place. :)

Yeah, I guess I missed this is GODBOMBER, not Ginrai.

Anyway, I came back because I noticed MT actually does experiment with a lot of offbeat releases: comic Rodimus, Optimus Primal, & Cybertron SS (to name a few).

That said, it does make sense to release a few "safe" toys to cover their missteps.

But I still stand by my statement: Optimus is too safe, and we have enough Optimi toys. :mad  Just copy and paste that in the relevant thread! :lol

This is far enough along it seems like they had this on the drawing board before the "complaints" were voiced. They likely did the nontransforming version first bc its cheaper to produce and quicker to market. it unusual to have different ideas during development branch off as the project moves along

I did not pick up on this being a separate release from the version coming with a Thunder Manus. Will definitely be interested in a version designed to go with Erebus.

Actually, what I think I'd really like to see is a version for Erebus that uses all the same connection points, but has different details... Different wings, wrist mounted blasters instead of fins, different molded chest. All the same underlying frame but different details to set it apart.

for the Erebus version, either the transforming or non-transforming Godbomber/armor needs

    a cape

high threadcount, optional underwiring for posing

Maketoys should do this only for Thunder Erebus to provide some differentiation. That way, there will be no confusion, and there's incentive to buy both.

This. This is a good idea.

Not as keen on this one. I want a proper Godbomber for my Manus! :D

Well, I have Thunder Manus preordered, and I'm not really a huge Ginrai fan to begin with, so I think I'll be passing on this guy. I'll have the armor; don't really need it to turn into a dude.

The add-on armour looks better on T. Manus than the figure that becomes armor. So there's that advantage to having armor as accessories with small mark up. Plus It's more options, you don't have to buy God Bomber to make God Ginrai.

We Should also remember the price of thunder manus is quite reasonable, and that's likely related to not needing more development/parts for godbomber bot mode
