I really wish this guy came with 3 Headmasters. I'm going to have to get some extra heads to repaint as his other two faces. I already know what head I want to use for Crazy Blitz wing but what am I going to do about Icy? There isn't a face sculpt with a monocle that can be painted to look like him. I still like the old Generations toy but I wouldn't mind adding another Blitz wing to my collection if he had that gimmick. Considering the headmaster gimmick makes it really easy I don't know why that's not already a thing. There was also a tank/jet mold in the Titan Master class which I think maybe they could do his other heads with that mold repainted in his colors. I'm kinda thinking about getting one to use for Icy but none of the heads really look right. Another thing I've noticed about this mold is that there's actually two cockpits so he has space to store the extra heads when not in use. What the hell Hasbro? This is great if you only want his G1 look but sucks if you want him to have his Animated head gimmick.
The nosecone folds into the jet cockpit for tank and robot mode, so there's no room in there for a spare Titanmaster. You could have a second Titanmaster hanging out in the tank cockpit in jet and robot modes I guess, but he'd be upside-down.
Don't forget there's also the seat in his gun to use if one of the other spots isn't accessible. Plus if I use the Tank/Jet/gun thing as an extra accessory then I can store one in there too.
A quicker review, posted earlier than normal for your benefit - because that's how much Death cares! Sure, Megatron/Doomshot was a good voyager. But we all know it was a trial balloon for THIS figure - Voyager Blitzwing/Hazard for Titans Return! Do you normally avoid repaints as not being worth it? You might want to check this review then, to see if you'd rather have Blitzwing than Megatron! With Megatron/Doomshot trickling back into stores, and with Blitzwing available for good prices on places like HasbroToyStore.com, it's worth looking at both to decide which one you think looks better!
Easily the MOST DIFFICULT figure I have EVER had to score. Why, you might ask? I was hard on the Titans Return Blitzwing when he was first announced, as I initially disliked the silhouette in the stock photos , but his look grew on me once I saw pictures with the back wings extended. As such, I picked him up. Immediately, I knew he needed additional custom paint to help him capture an animation accurate look (admittedly, the Legends one does that perfectly, if you wish to go that route, and this one DOES catch toy accuracy excellently). By the way, the biggest challenge was matching the beige. I digress, his knees are also somewhat cumbersome, especially when i think about kids trying to transform this guy. Finally, while effective, he does have certain articulation limits. Conversely, the Generations, whom I compare this guy too, is also not perfect. We all know he looks stylized and the should assembly issue is very well know. Therefore, one would expect, despite being imperfect, the new update would automatically win. BUT, what if you have gone as far as to fix the shoulders on the Generations one, which does improve him exponentially, then who wins?
A quick update about the knee mod I mentioned in the review, and a link to step-by-step instructions for it and a note about a surprisingly odd issue mine developed - his arms literally fell off. It is an easy fix, but i am curious, has anyone else experienced this issue with their copy of the mold?
