I may be wrong (but I'm not) didn't Starscream just show up out of the blue with ALL the omega keys? That's pretty big.

Starscream showed up with no way to stop Megs from just killing him and taking the Keys. All that genius in taking the Keys canceled out.

Now that you mention it, I am curious as to how Starscream got on board the Nemesis. I assume he used his ground bridge but uh... that ship ain't on the ground?

GroundBridges can open anywhere on Earth. Remember in “Darkness Rising” they used it to get to the Space Bridge. In “Inside Job” they opened one in mid air to catch Smokescreen.

He could have GroundBridged into the ship, but the question is how did he find the ship’s coordinates? Furthermore, the ship’s signal is supposed to be cloaked so there would be no unauthorized GroundBridges onto the ship or coordinated attacks from the Autobots.

How'd he get on board? Because the plot demanded it.

You outlined exactly why it's impossible that Starscream got on via Groundbridge. Earlier this season he did sneak on the Nemesis but it was incredibly ridiculous how he got on. Ugh. Basically he got on because plot said screw logic.

I haven't read through all of this, and there's a lot of material to go through. That being said, I liked this show. it was a lot of fun and even if there was a lot of inconsistent things, it at least showed that these guys are at war, and are not just getting together for superpowered playdates. Regardless of the legitimacy of anything, characters did show fear, anger, and frequently ran the eff away from fights.

I've noticed there seems to be a lot of hate on this particular iteration of Megatron. I can appreciate it, although I don't think he's the worst Megatron ever given that this supposed to be a "serious" show and he's not constantly thrown the mulligans necessary to start off an episode with, say, a giant purple robot griffin-ship. However, I've long felt that the strength of an action show tends to weigh heavily on the strength of its villains. While TF: Prime Megatron does make some odd decisions and I think TF: Prime does suffer a lot from 'It happened because the writers needed it to happen' in general, I wonder how much of it happens to be the result of a latent sort of insanity plaguing Decepticon upper management.

If Aligned is supposed to work like it should, following the trail back to the WFC/FoC games, Megatron came across, and became obsessed with Dark Energon, which may as well be cocaine for all I can tell. By the time TF: Prime rolls around, Megatron appears to have gone full Tony Montana and spends considerable time shoving bits of Dark Energon into himself and acting like a loony bin. Even after he "recovers" and is technically no longer in the thrall of Unicron, his Dark Energon abuse has pretty much ruined him going forward and he's pretty much willing to do any fool thing that comes to his mind because Dark Energon is a hell of a drug.

I dunno. I'm sure I'm reading too much into it, but I definitely feel that by the time we're dealing with him in TF: Prime, Megatron isn't really operating at his peak, considering his big achievement throughout the series is conquering Butthole, Nevada.

The issue there is that in the games, Dark Energon is a completely different thing than what it is in the show. In the former, it is a 100% manufactured substance, the entire reason WFC starts with Megatron capturing the orbital production facility to make it and it gives Megatron puedo-Force lightning telekinesis and special armor for some Decepticons. In the latter, it's literally the blood of Unicron and all it does is raise zombies.

There's also the major problem with how if they're all in continuity, then Dark Energon is the entire reason Cybertron died in the first place (because Primus, the Core, is basically rebooting the planet to purge the corruption)...so Megatron's grand plan is to chuck more Dark Energon at it like that's going to actually have any more of an effect?

Cocaine is a hell of a drug.

All jokes aside, I see your point - thematically it has little cohesiveness. Wherever it's from or whatever it does, however, Dark Energon has the same notes as the usual Bad Guy MacGuffin - it's a massive, evil power source that Megatron seeks to control to have control over everything else. That's sort of his thing. He doesn't seem to give a flying poo if it's literally killing planets, so long as he's in charge of the thing that kills the planets.

If that sounds stupid... well, my point was that Dark Energon may have made Megatron Extra Stupid (regardless of what it is or what it's supposed to do), which may explain why he behaves that way in TF: Prime.

I don't see this version of Megatron in a much different light than G1 Megatron whose sole purpose was to keep raiding military bases and energon sources to get drunk off of. As for what you said about the dark energon making him dumb - Bayformer Megatron is missing half of his head and makes some dumb decisions. I can get down with that.

I really should revisit and complete those games. When I originally played them, I was a -very- casual TF fan and knew nothing about anyone who wasn't Bumblebee or Optimus Prime. I played them primarily to play Multiplayer with my brother. I feel like I would appreciate and understand them much more now. But the Xbox One ports cost way too much.

Hey, let's not get carried away now. :p

Whatever you do, avoid Rise of the Dark Spark like the plague. It's absolutely shit and was nothing more than a cheap cash-grab utilizing FoC assets. I legitimately can't even explain the plot to you, because it doesn't really have one at all.

the easiest thing is to go on youtube. a couple users have the full gameplay/cutscenes and plot of the games edited together into like 1 1/2 to 2 hours film type videos. it is pretty entertaining and you can really absorb the story without worrying about the gameplay. give it a shot, its fun :)

Continuity issues and headaches aside, in FOC in particular you can see some references to what's (kinda) coming in Prime that you'd get only after watching the show.

    I own ROTDS ;)

It was indeed pretty bad but at the time it was the only TF game on Xbox One so I took what I could get. The online component is buns!

    ------

Also, I'd like to let you all know, I've decided to delay the start of Season 3 by one more week.

I've been pretty busy this past week and this week is looking to be the same. I was also faced with tragedy last week on Thursday and Friday - my plant manager and I found a co-worker blacked out and gasping for air Thursday morning. I'll spare you the gruesome details he was taken to the hospital and released later that evening when he was feeling better. We found him dead in the front lobby of the plant on Friday morning.

I'm going to need a little more time to process things and cool off from other responsibilities that have been rapid as of late.

I hope this doesn't upset anyone too much. We'll be back to business as usual very soon. Thank you for baring with me. :)

Thank you, Shadow. I'm feeling pretty overwhelmed. Since it happened, I feel the need to cry every so often but can't so I don't think it's really hit me yet. I'm just really exhausted. I also don't want to go at the blog half-assed feeling like I need to get it out of the way. Things should be good to go by Monday. :)
