I don't know if Metallic Legacy figures are in Canada now. I just happen to have seen a couple Metallic Red Ranger Figures with Sword on Craigslist.
It was pretty hard to find in stores. I think I saw 2, maybe 3, in the wild over the course of the 6 months or so it was available. I think everyone was expecting a black Friday mega-set and it never materialized. ___ Finished ToQger. I don't understand any of the hate on this series. It had a well-written progressive story line that had me watching several episodes at a time. Yeah, the Rangers kind of act childish at times...but there's an in-story reason for that. Altogether, it has a lot to say about growing up...learning to make adult decisions but also knowing when to add a dash of childishness to keep things interesting and fun...advice on how to approach depression (try not to push away your friends)...and to never lose hope. Also, pretty decent mecha battles too.
Anybody think this new HyperForce thing will get any figures? Considering how it's marketed and stuff I don't think any kids would even be invested in the thing.
Pretty much it. They want superheroes to look like superheroes, regardless of if it's accurate. It represents their place in genre. They don't understand that the Power Rangers are supposed to look thinner because their helmets are less form-fitting and stuntmen typically have lithe physiques verses bodybuilders.
You sure about that? Remember not all kids who buy Power Rangers are influenced by the TV show. The buff bodies broaden the appeal, like it or not.
Hmmm...does it though? Look at GIJoe. In it's hey-day, every figure was pretty lithe aside from a few hardy individuals like Sgt. Slaughter and Co. GIJoe Extreme, the steroid version of the brand, was a full fledged flop. Not saying kids don't like muscle-bound toys that look like WWE guys. But I'm on the fence as to whether kids are more drawn to a toy just because it shows off extra muscle.

The Metallic legacy rangers are making it out to more stores, saw the red ranger at target a few days ago. I don't buy the argument that ranger figures sell more since they are muscular. I would've bought more if they weren't. Even Jason in costume, despite being the most muscular of the Rangers in MMPR, didn't look like Heman with a red suit. Saw the 5" training ninja figures too, forgot what series but I saw them at Walmart, they look like they have anime style eyes.
You are not the primary audience for Power Rangers, though. I mean, we had this whole discussion not long ago. I think the reason for Bandai making them like that was very clearly explained. It's not like they just do it for funsies. There's no technical or engineering advantage to doing more muscular characters. If anything it's harder than making a less detailed, smaller body. But the Power Rangers are super heroes, and the toys are appealing to that super hero image, and show-accurate rangers would look more like they're intended to be physically unremarkable teenage or younger characters than powerful super heroes.
I was when MMPR was 1st released and never liked muscular ranger figures. Your reasoning sounds straight out of a corporate playbook. The whole point of Power Rangers is that these seemingly unremarkable teenagers have the potential to become a hero. The average build fits the bill moreso than a the creatined up overdose on preworkout builds that the figures have. Had this argument before? I don't remember. Nor will my view change.
I didn't realize some of the Legacy items like black Titanus and the Ninjetti coin set are available on Target.com.

Saw the Ninja Steel version of Gekiatsu Dai-Oh today. Didn't look half bad, but was never interested in the Ninninger version. Didn't know Bandai was changing the packaging for the Megazords. The boxes look really nice, like they're for a collector line or something. Should have taken pics. I wonder what the rest of the Super Ninja Steel stuff will look like.
