    It's a free country.

Stop taking criticism of the films so personally.

    "Travis Knight fans"

Right. Not to demean the guy, but you've clearly not done your homework here at all. Do you know how many films he's directed?

ONE. Kubo and the Two Strings.

He was a producer for Two Strings as well as Boxtrolls (which is kind of a shit film because the animation just doesn't make up for a plot that legitimately has no idea what it wants to be) and ParaNorman (which was good). He was an animator for all of those as well as Coraline.

But that's virtually it. I'm not kidding.

So sure, it might attract fans...but he's not got nearly a big a following as you seem to think he does as a director.

This isn't a new direction - it's buying time. It's a prequel film that ties into the same idiotic, nonsensical story that the films have devolved into.

More importantly, that asshat Lorenzo is still involved. "A new direction" to me only begins with "FIRE HIS ASS IMMEDIATELY"

No, but the reduced budget being 1/5th that of the usual film budget certainly would imply that.

Cinema is an art form, something he doesn't even understand.

The quicker we remove him from any ties to the franchise, the better. Don't support anything movie related. When he's bankrupt, he'll move on to pretending to like something else for the profit he can make off it and we might get someone who cares about and understands our history.

I’m betting hot rod, bee, Stryker, and barricade, with a guest appearance by Optimus prime via communication hologram.

Barricade is the luckiest decepticon in the movieverse. He's getting his own MPM first, met multiple old celebrities in person (Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave), got his own fanbase along with the BEST upgrade in the series and a true Survivor.

The thing I'm most interested in about this article is who the other three robots are. It goes without saying one is Bumblebee, but I'm curious as to which other Transformers will make it in. Peter Cullen being mentioned suggests Optimus Prime will cameo, and it'd be cool to have Barricade show up and have a rivalry with Bee.
No offense, but I think comparing someone who is responsible for an adaptation you personally dislike to someone who abused and hurt a lot of real people is going a bit too far.

Because there are enough people who keep supporting his movies, I guess, sadly.

    Only four robots?

You know what, I think that's the perfect amount for this kind of film. You don't need a million robots to make a fun Transformers story.

A lot of people seem to bash this film well before it's out. I think fans should give this film a chance. I like the Bay films and think most of them are considerably better than given credit, but here is a Transformers film with a smaller cast and smaller focus by a relatively new director. It is set in the 80s, and Bee is going to transform into a VW Beetle. Since Day 1 fans have been complaining about how the alt modes aren't enough like the original cartoon and how a director other than Bay is needed. Well here's your chance. Nobody has to like it given we haven't seen it yet, but I think people should at least be open-minded about the next installment of the live action movies.

I'm carefully optimitic for the reasons you stated but it's still a hard sell for the people who've been burnt five times by this franchise. Despite the new director, it has the same production team, so those who hate the movies still have little reason be convinced this will be any different. That old saying from Tennessee applies here.

Given the kinds of paychecks they're bringing in? They haen't paid rent on the homes they own for years.

What old saying from Tennessee? I'm not from the South, so I am not familiar with sayings from that part of the United States.

The thing about any Transformers fiction is this: I will always give new fiction a shot. It does not matter who is producing it or what continuity it takes place in. I love G1, and it has its share of crappy fiction, but it also many of my favorite Transformers stories. I love some of the some stories and characters in the movies and am "meh" on some others. I don't hate the more enjoyable fiction in G1 by association with the lesser episodes and comic issues.

Furthermore, there is never going to be a movie that will please a huge majority of the fandom. Not a Bayverse sequel or spinoff or prequel. Not a reboot. Not a remake of x-titled Transformers fiction. Future Transformers movies don't need to cater to any member of this fandom. Not me. Not you. Not anyone in this thread. If I like something, then great. If not, then I will happily wait until something I love comes along. If that never happens again, then I still have the large amounts of Transformers fiction and characters from the past I love, so I will still be thankful to be a fan of Transformers.

I don't like many of the recent cartoons. I think there are too many things going on with IDW at the moment for me to get interested again. I did not like TLK anywhere near as much as AoE or DotM before it; I didn't hate it, I just didn't like it to the same degree, but I'm perfectly fine with that. However, I'll still give Cyberverse, Bumblebee, Transformers One, and any Bayverse sequels a chance. If a live action reboot came along next decade, I would give that a chance. We as fans need to be open minded before we watch it and not just hate and despise all future fiction automatically.

So yeah, when the Bee movie comes out I will go to see it in theaters. I will hopefully like it, and if not that's okay, too.
