Y'know, I've been thinking a lot about collecting older figures like the original Beast Wars robots vs more recent CHUG offerings.

Buying older figures almost makes me feel like some sort of robot archeologist. Discovering these 'ancient' robots that I had no idea of in some cases, or only saw on the back of a cross-sell to entertain my childhood mind.

Recently I mentioned that I found parts to complete my childhood Scorponok, and that was a Hell of a lot of fun. I was repairing well-loved childhood toy, I was fiddling with parts and cobbling together a 'new body' of sorts using the best components I had.(I'm a tinkerer, so I friggin' LOVE this sort of thing.) It was something so simple, yet that night I had the most fun I've had with my robots in ages.

However, even something like Generations Scourge that I bought a month or two ago gave me a similar feeling, despite being a distinct opposite. I have no past history with the character, I didn't know he even existed until I became an adult, I haven't tinkered with him or attempted a customization of any sort. He was simply a chance find for cheap on Ebay and it brought me more enjoyment than a lot of 'newer'(and pricier) things. He's still a favourite of mine to fiddle with.

For whatever reason, I find the excitement has dwindled for me with new releases. I can't immediately pin why, but I'm a bit afraid that I'll feel this way about any additional BW updates.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to convey here. Maybe I'm just burned out on new stuff...? Anyone else feel this way?

Just that I would like to get Dinobot first, however I find getting the whole 2006 set is cheaper than finding each one separately. However, if I happen to get the 2006 set I would then set a goal of getting a set of cybertron style Predacons too. Like 2006 Megatron or 2016 Terrorsaur and Tarantulas. I just wish boron toys were not too expensive. I can't afford prices like that.

I can't believe it's been ~4 years since the new batch of generations BW figures were released. Crazy.

I'm not burned out on new stuff, but there is joy to be had in going back into the history of the line and discovering great new (old) figures. I've been getting a ton of pre-2007 stuff in the last year, mostly G1. But on topic to this thread, I've picked up in the last year: BW Tarantulas and Waspinator (finally!), BW II Lio Convoy, and RID Sky-Byte.

I can't read Japanese myself, but I think we can get the gist. As part of the original design, TM Rattrap was to have additional wheels on the back of his legs for some kind of mobility-form while in robot-mode. It certainly explains why his rear beast legs/wheels can pivot 90 degrees.

It raises the question about the rest of the TM line and whether others had something similar envisioned for them. Could TM Airazor's shields wrapping around her be one of these additional mobility-forms? Because it didn't require any additional tooling, it made it through.

Not saying it's possible. But is there anyone here selling botcon 2006 right now? Not looking to get yet, just wondering if there is someone selling a Dinobot lower than $250 USD which is the current one I'm looking at on eBay.

Potentially, yeah. And given where the wheels would have been located, he'd have had 6 wheels on the ground in vehicle-mode.

Ha a 'mobility-form?' More like mobility scooter form...
So is this aborted idea the reason Rattrap ended up as a living segway in Beast Machines?

Rattrap was originally going to "have a few circuits loose" with his exposed "brain" in robot mode. The concept was abandoned as it was seen as insensitive towards people with disabilities. So it makes sense, actually, that his transmetal form might have a "wheelchair" mode moving forward from that original concept. Very cool find @Verno

Can you read Japanese? If so, any chance of a full translation if you have some spare time?

Just curious, what is the lowest price you can get Botcon 2006 Dinobot? In USD?

    sigh

Why do Botcon figures have to be so hard to find and expensive.
