Supposedly the only reason the BW logo was used was so they didn't lose it. Which I can believe.

That is certainly a likely possibility.

There is the matter of this evergreen Authentics sub-line that's been hinted at. It'll be interesting to see what comes of it and if BW could have a place within it.

It had one beast in it. A war of Beasts that does not make.

Regarding the sadness of no new BW toys, I'd like to offer two points.

    1) We're getting an Optimus Primal in PoTP. It's not really what you guys want? Well take that feeling and imagine it stretched over a whole toy line. This is historically how it goes when you get what you asked for in this hobby.

    2) That feeling of loving the original toys and the cartoon and longing for more is honestly kinda the best moment in being a fan. Those of us who were 80s kids and came onto the newly minted TF online community in the mid-late 90s were SO hungry for G1 stuff that any artifact from that era was worth its weight in gold. Any scrap of media that hinted at our beloved original show was cherished. When Starscream's ghost appeared on Beast Wars, it was a religious experience, guys.

Anyone who is participating in this thread is presumably sharing in the feeling of nostalgia and hunger for Beast Wars...enjoy this moment, guys. Have fun tracking down the figures that you've been wanting for 20 years, just be present in this unique moment of collecting. Sooner or later, we're going to get a BW revival of some kind and for most of us, it's going to miss the mark. The original Beast Wars came along at exactly the right time with exactly the right creative talent and exactly the right toy technology.

The line felt small, personal, original, fresh and incredibly artful. This toy line broke new ground not only for Transformers toys but for action figures in general. The supporting media was vastly better than it had to be. It had depth and creative joy behind it along with amazing voice talent. This formula will never come again. The world is a different place.

Today, marketing works by distilling and refining what they believe already worked and producing something that hits those notes in the most cost efficient fashion. Sometimes we get good stuff out of this, sometimes we get derivative, off-putting, cynical products that make us question our place in the hobby.

There's a damn good chance that getting what we ask for won't be what we really want.

    Just my personal opinion.

In order to be present in this unique moment of collecting, there needs to be something to collect.

I assumed that not everyone has completed the original run of figures.

I certainly haven't. My BW collection is pathetic. I'm almost ashamed of the number of characters I have from the show.

I've been feeling an inch to buy more though. I really want the original Cheetor and Dinobot toys. They looks really fun. I also really want TM Optimus, Rattrap and Tarantulas. I mean, I want everything, but those are the figures I'm going after next.

Y'know, I've been thinking a lot about collecting older figures like the original Beast Wars robots vs more recent CHUG offerings.

Buying older figures almost makes me feel like some sort of robot archeologist. Discovering these 'ancient' robots that I had no idea of in some cases, or only saw on the back of a cross-sell to entertain my childhood mind.

Recently I mentioned that I found parts to complete my childhood Scorponok, and that was a Hell of a lot of fun. I was repairing well-loved childhood toy, I was fiddling with parts and cobbling together a 'new body' of sorts using the best components I had.(I'm a tinkerer, so I friggin' LOVE this sort of thing.) It was something so simple, yet that night I had the most fun I've had with my robots in ages.

However, even something like Generations Scourge that I bought a month or two ago gave me a similar feeling, despite being a distinct opposite. I have no past history with the character, I didn't know he even existed until I became an adult, I haven't tinkered with him or attempted a customization of any sort. He was simply a chance find for cheap on Ebay and it brought me more enjoyment than a lot of 'newer'(and pricier) things. He's still a favourite of mine to fiddle with.

For whatever reason, I find the excitement has dwindled for me with new releases. I can't immediately pin why, but I'm a bit afraid that I'll feel this way about any additional BW updates.

I'm not sure what I'm trying to convey here. Maybe I'm just burned out on new stuff...? Anyone else feel this way?

Just that I would like to get Dinobot first, however I find getting the whole 2006 set is cheaper than finding each one separately. However, if I happen to get the 2006 set I would then set a goal of getting a set of cybertron style Predacons too. Like 2006 Megatron or 2016 Terrorsaur and Tarantulas. I just wish boron toys were not too expensive. I can't afford prices like that.

I can't believe it's been ~4 years since the new batch of generations BW figures were released. Crazy.

I'm not burned out on new stuff, but there is joy to be had in going back into the history of the line and discovering great new (old) figures. I've been getting a ton of pre-2007 stuff in the last year, mostly G1. But on topic to this thread, I've picked up in the last year: BW Tarantulas and Waspinator (finally!), BW II Lio Convoy, and RID Sky-Byte.

I can't read Japanese myself, but I think we can get the gist. As part of the original design, TM Rattrap was to have additional wheels on the back of his legs for some kind of mobility-form while in robot-mode. It certainly explains why his rear beast legs/wheels can pivot 90 degrees.

It raises the question about the rest of the TM line and whether others had something similar envisioned for them. Could TM Airazor's shields wrapping around her be one of these additional mobility-forms? Because it didn't require any additional tooling, it made it through.

Not saying it's possible. But is there anyone here selling botcon 2006 right now? Not looking to get yet, just wondering if there is someone selling a Dinobot lower than $250 USD which is the current one I'm looking at on eBay.

Potentially, yeah. And given where the wheels would have been located, he'd have had 6 wheels on the ground in vehicle-mode.

Ha a 'mobility-form?' More like mobility scooter form...
So is this aborted idea the reason Rattrap ended up as a living segway in Beast Machines?
